August 7, 201213 yr With so many solid teams in the AL, it seems unlikely to me that most of the teams will be able to just steamroll their way through. I think most of these teams will have their share of ups and downs, point being, if the White Sox are able to get 90 wins, that may be enough for a wildcard.

August 11, 201213 yr Author Sox play their 112th game tonight. If they win, these are the records with 50 games left: Sox 62-50 Det 60-52 Oak 60-52 Bal 60-52 TB 60-52 LAA 59-53 Obviously, one of the two Central teams will win the division. Breaking down the final 50-game schedules, the Tigers are either going to win the division, or they are going to host the Wild Card game with Verlander on the mound. August 17, 201213 yr QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 16, 2012 -> 09:46 PM) Who should the Sox be rooting for, Tampa or Anaheim this weekend? Tampa. I think the Angels are a much better team.

August 17, 201213 yr I'm going to say TB. I just don't want to have to deal with Weaver, Trout, and Pujols in October. I agree. The Angels and Tigers are the two teams I least want to see in the playoffs. I'd much rather have Tampa, Oakland, or Baltimore.
August 17, 201213 yr QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Aug 17, 2012 -> 06:36 AM) I agree. The Angels and Tigers are the two teams I least want to see in the playoffs. I'd much rather have Tampa, Oakland, or Baltimore. Outside of Verlander, the Tigers don't scare me at all (putrid defense, no team speed). If the Angels make the playoffs, they're my favorite to win the AL. Their rotation is scary and they have guys that can create runs against good pitching.

Let's just get back on track this week. No worse than 4-2, and then a split in Baltimore wouldn't be so bad. Orioles are 50-0 when leading after 7 innings. Gotta jump on their starters early.
