Wild Card:

Bal 89-67 +0.5

Oak 88-67 --

LAA 86-69 2.0

TB 85-70 3.0

I don't want the Sox to contribute to the Rays getting back in this, but it's not impossible all 4 team finish 90-72 or 91-71.

Bal 1-5 or 2-4

Oak 2-5 or 3-4

LAA 4-3 or 5-2

TB 5-2 or 6-1

Could happen.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 07:25 PM)
The Rays are hot but it's too late.

I thought at the beginning of the week the Rays needed to go 7-2 (2-0 vs Bos,3-1 vs CHW, 2-1 vs Balt) to have any shot at the A's. After going 5-1 so far, not only couldnt they gain ground on Oakland, they couldnt even pass up the Angels. Pretty amazing how well just about every team has played the final week of this playoff push.

AL East- Loser plays in the Wild card game.

Bal 92-67 at TB

NY 92-67 vs Bos

AL West-

Tex 93-66

Oak 91-68

Oakland has to sweep them to win the West

AL Wildcard-

Bal/NY 92-67 +1

Oak 91-68 --

LAA 88-71 3.0

TB 88-71 3.0

For a 3-way tie for the 2nd wild card:

Angels need to sweep the Mariners.

Rays need to sweep the Orioles.

Rangers need to sweep the A's.

we should be use to that by now.

It's going to take me a long time to get over this collapse/choke. I can't imagine how worried Sox officials are that the loyal season ticket holders would probably rather throw money down the toilet than re-up their season tickets after this disastrous finish. The Sox showed no fight, no nothing. It was just horrific baseball day after day.

It's been tough to swallow, but I don't see it as a true choke. It's the offense, especially the 5-9 hitters, reverting to their true selves at the most inopportune time. A lineup with Rios, AJ, Viciedo, Ramirez, and Beckham in the 5-9 slots and it took some very good fortune by the Sox and some very bad play by Detroit to even make it possible.

I see this season as providing Sox management some extra incentive to put it all together for 2013 instead of just waiting for the young guys to develop.
