The key is nursing him through this game and getting Santiago in there to bridge to the bullpen. It would be nice to see the monday at Boston Axelrod start, but we can't count on a shutout or one run game from him by any stretch of the imagination. But the point is that 1) that's not an option, and 2) I could name 15 players at every position except for a couple (AJP, Rios, Dunn, Konerko, YOUK) that I'd rather have in the Sox line-up, but this is OUR team, right now, as is, as currently comprised. Would you rather have traded the prospects the Angels did and got a lot less performance from Greinke than Liriano, too? By all rights, 5 of 6 out of Liriano's starts should be victories, if not for Brett Myers' outing on Monday night. And the Angels?
