Kenny has been doing that for a long time and honestly has a pretty damn good track record. I have a feeling Hahn has been the brainchild behind free agent acquisitions for a while now. We'll probably not be sure what's going on from here on out.

October 26, 201213 yr Congrats Rick, keep making scouting successes such as De Aza and you'll be great (from what I have read/heard, he was De Aza's biggest fan). I'm excited to see what he can do this offseason, it'll speak a lot to his personality as a GM as he's coming into a tough position with a lot of decisions to be made that may not be popular with fans. He's going to show if he's going to be more conservative or aggressive fairly quickly imo.

I've never had a problem with Williams' ideas for building a team, but his tactics have sometimes left something to be desired - as in giving up Ryan Sweeney, Gio Gonzalez, and De Los Santos for Nick Swisher or giving a 4 year deal to Scott Linebrink. And, whether it's him or his scouts, he's always seemed to have a good eye for talent, so that leads to good things as well. I also think Hahn will manage the payroll quite a bit better too. Interested to see where the offseason takes us now.

October 26, 201213 yr If he is KW puppet then this move is meaningless. I don't see that as being very likely. Hahn would certainly have gotten a GM job somewhere else within the next year or two. I don't think giving him the title of GM without the power is going to keep him from pursuing those other jobs. It seems from what has been said publicly that KW is going to be taking over a lot of duties from JR, so he isn't going to have time to be puppetmaster on top of that.
