That LaVeon Bell hit was brutal

I understand that you don't want players running around the field with helmets off, but he was falling down while his helmet came off. The rule should at least give him the benefit of his forward motion and give him the spot where he lands, in that case a touchdown.

It was brutal though, as soon as it happened, Heath Miller went straight for the camera to block its view, like "This dude might be dead, turn that s*** off".

Yea that was exactly what I thought when Miller blocked the camera.

Jimmy Smith is gonna be fined for that hit. Helmet to helmet, under the chin

Way too much gray area there. You could have defensive guys trying to make a play on a stumbling or falling player, knowing he's still gaining yardage. Plus, then he could fumble and there could be a pile up etc.

Hockey has the same rule with goaltender masks.

Yeah, but the rule is designed to stop the play from continuing. On a play where the helmet coming off is incidental to the end of the play, how does looking at the replay and calling it down where his helmet comes off furthering that goal? Instead, now we're lining them up in this dangerous position again and increasing the likelihood of further injury even more...and indeed, the next play, the center got injured.

This is what I said in the fantasy football thread in response to Jake trying to rationalize this call

I've been trying unsuccessfully of a way to word the rule that can allow that to be a touchdown but not encourage dangerous hits to an uncovered head

The only thing I can think is something that considers the falling to the ground with the ball "completing the action". If Bell was fighting for extra yards with his helmet off, of course the ball is dead immediately. But he was hit and falling to the ground at once, and the ball was spotted where he was mid air, which is kind of weird.

But I agree with Krush, there is a lot of gray area in it and someone could get hurt pretty bad.

Posted that after the very first play of the game, when Oakland recovered a fumble and scored. No reason to question in game posts a day later.

No reason to get excited over that run, lol.

Sunday Night Football: Giants vs. Washington

Something is wrong here…

Broncos probably already at their limit for NBC games.

@RapSheet: Coming up, I’ll talk about what’s facing #Steelers & Tomlin after his sideline footwork: Fines for coaches & tea,. Possible draft pick loss

Wtf, really??!! Loss of a draft pick for stepping on the field?

No, apparently CBS is allowed to "protect" one game each week from being flexed out. They made a deal with the NFL a few weeks back to allow them to flex one of the KC-Denver games but they were going to protect the other. Unfortunately this is the result of that this week. They did move the KC-Denver game from 1 to 4:25 though so it will be their national game in the late afternoon slot for probably 80-90% of the country.

In either case, somebody going by the twitter handle @nfldraftscout should know stuff like that.

Alaska is getting the Bears-Vikings game, but Southern Indiana is not. Once again, f*** you very much, FOX.

So AP will break single game rushing record today right?

This is likely. Don't the Bears have a history of not playing well in that dome?

Spent the $ on him in Fan Duel so hopefully

But seriously, if he doesn't get hurt, this is one of those matchups the Vikings staff need to just try and exploit over and over. Keep the ball out of Ponder's hands as much as possible.

I'd set the over/under at 199.5

Hester: still an idiot

Steltz just showed a better defensive technique than Conte.
