IU fans just lost a year of their life.

You'll probably destroy Syracuse now after this escape.

I would be content with that.

There's Indiana's close win.

You're kidding right? Every game from here on out will be close for them. Just about every time they play a top 20 team it goes down to the wire. I see no reason why that would change now. It's why they aren't a title contender in my mind. You can't expect to win 5 close games in a row to win the title.

Temple crumbled when it got down to winning time.

And I know Wyatt was the only reason Temple had a chance but there were 2 possessions in the final minutes where he didnt even try to get the ball in his hands.

Give some credit to Oladipo there too for saying "you're not getting the ball anywhere other than right next to the time line".

Being able to pull out close games at the end is a real skill that some teams can develop too though. IU has had plenty of experience with that.

They're 6-4 in games decided by 5 points or less or OT. It's basically flipping a coin 4 times to win it. You're just being optimistic, but I don't think they've shown they're better than average in close games.

This game shows how poorly the tournament is seeded. Temple was seriously a f***ing 9 seed? That was one hell of a team, they play almost any other team in the country that well and they win.

I don't disagree but they're good enough to win one or two of those close games and this was one of them.

Hopefully Zeller can get his head out of his a** before the next game. Spent the whole game turning the ball over and slamming it randomly into the backboard. And failing to box out.

I watched the last 10 minutes or so. I see the FT advantage was 20-8 in IU's favor. Was that legit or were they getting the benefit of the calls?

I'm sure in detail you could quibble with it, but IU went inside very often when they couldn't make anything and got into the bonus very early in the 2nd half as a consequence. Got 4 fouls on both of the guys guarding Zeller.

It's probably why Zeller had such a ***tty game, FWIW.

People keep saying that but I'm not buying how poorly some teams are seeded. The parity is so great now that there isnt much difference from teams seeded 1-12.

Look at these top seeds compared to previous champions. Could you imagine Indiana going up against the two Roy Williams UNC title teams or those Florida teams that went back to back? That Kansas team that beat Memphis?

I can imagine this Indiana team taking on last year's Kentucky championship team :)

I'm only using Indiana because for the most part they have been viewed as the top team in the country for much of the year.

I think most everyone will agree there isn't a dominant team out there.

But, since that's the case, whoever wins this title is going to have to pull out 4 or 5 tough wins in a row. Someone is going to have to do it.

Every year every team that makes it to the final four has tough games. Nobody remembers it though.

They looked like a 9 seed to me. They only had one guy who could score. Indiana played like s***, if Temple was better they would have sent them home.

Early in the season there was a lot of chatter about how there were no elite teams.

Now -- everyone is complaining about the seeding. I'd say the lower seeds look good because the best teams aren't that great. It's a lot of fun to me, despite my bracket.

What other teams in the tournament would that not apply to? As even as the field is this year, that pretty much goes without saying for everyone, unless they get lucky and play a double digit seed that comes back to reality, aka Harvard - Arizona.

Good (lucky) win for IU today. I think Krush said it took a year off IU fans' lives. Damn right! We played great until we had a 20-11 lead and then went in the tank. Not sure if I blame the subbing, Zeller's two fouls, nerves likely increased by Wyatt hitting everything in sight, Hulls getting Hurt or what. We had some lineups tonight that we rarely had playing together all year because of the above.

That said, Oladipo locked down Wyatt in the 2nd half. He kept the ball out of his hands and made him work his ass off to get anything done. He was 4-10 from the field and 1-5 from 3 pt range in the 2nd half for 11 pts (with 2 FT's). Considering he averages 7 FT's attempted per game (6 makes), I don't think IU did that bad a job on him. I know weird to say about someone that scored 31, but the 2nd half was much different.

Rock, you're right... survive and advance. I let out a huge sigh of relief when it was over, got a drink of water and put in an hour on the treadmill to bring myself back down. It wasn't pretty, but I'll take it!

Get hot Illinois.

Isn't Illinois 6-1 in games decided by 5 or less?

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 24, 2013 -> 07:38 PM)
Get hot Illinois.

Shots shots shots shots shots shots shots. Make them.

More makes or airballs (from 3) from Paul tonight? This may be the best way to predict an end result.
