Jones is just frustrating.. How can you throw that hard and be a wuzz?

Ace and Santiago do not go together. He only has thrown over 100 innings in a year ONCE.

I agree Jones should have been taken out, but "nobody else is fresh" is a weak excuse. You have someone ready so it doesn't get to that.

 

"Just the 7th inning" what the hell does that mean? We got blown out of the game in the 7th inning. Maybe if it was handled better it'd be 5-4 and we'd be within striking distance. You don't wait for the 8th and 9th innings to start making sound decisions.

 

That is how almost any manager would have played it. The issue is the player, not bullpen management. If you want a lefty to pitch to Hamilton and Jones is toast, you don't put in some other guy to also have the wrong matchup. Your LOOGY has to be able to pitch to a switch hitter and/or a righty between lefties. If he can't, he shouldn't be in the MLB

Good to say Paulie with three hits and an RBI. Got a hit to left off a 97 MPH fastball. Maybe this will be the turning point for him offensively

You really don't understand the talent of either Sale or Peavy if you put Santiago in front of one of them.

 

Peavy used to be more talented. Veteran savvy is now a much bigger part of Peavy's success when his fastball is slower and straighter and his slider doesn't bite as much.

Well he shouldn't be in this league and Ventura should consider that. If there are exceptions to your rule Veal is it.

 

Unfortunately, you can't hide anyone in your bullpen, especially with how much the top guys have been used lately
