Welcome aboard!

As you read through the thread, you will see that there are reasons for being patient here. And also realize that Phegley is not likely to come up and hit the world right away either.

please point these reasons out to me

Seriously? The points are all over the thread. Or were you being sarcastic?

If you are really asking, here are a few...

1. If you bring up Phegley, he's not likely to be a quick fix - he's going to have an adjustment period, just as he did getting to AAA, more than likely. So you will get Flowers-like production, give or take, for a few months anyway.

2. Phegley has been very good, and as I said earlier I believe he can be a major league catcher... but he's really only just gotten it dialed in for 1.5 months. That is a very small sample size, and he's probably not THAT good.

3. Catching is always a tougher transition to any given level than other positions because it involves so many different things. Flowers should be given, IMO, a solid half season at least to see if he can be good. We are approaching that point, but not there yet. If you pull the trigger too early, you risk never finding out if Flowers can be a legit major league starting catcher or not. He's now 2 months into full time play, so, it seems silly to throw out that development before giving him that chance.

4. Flowers put up much more prolific numbers, at times and in the overall view, in the minors, than Phegley has. This is a strong indicator (but not a guarantee) that Flowers is likely to be a better hitter. That may not happen, but, it tells you something.

5. Changing catchers also throws off the pitching staff, to some extent. The pitching is actually working pretty well, mostly (leaving out 2-3 bullpen guys struggling). There should be some hesitation before messing with that.

All that said, I like Phegley, and I wouldn't be opposed to flipping him and Flowers in a month or so, if Flowers just isn't getting it done.

bastardo.

I thought you weren't serious, but I also thought, some people are. So there are some reasons for those screaming and yelling.

To be fair, it was a really well done summary.

It was, my response is rolling on feet laughing because, stuff.

LMAO. He probably took 2 hours to come up with that summary.

I don't think there's any way you can say that. He was the #41 (2008) #36 (2009), and #76 (2010) prospect in the minors while a member of the Yankees organization. That's similar to saying that Conor Gillaspie has been developed by the White Sox.

LOL ! My bad I slipped big time on that one! Thanks for making look silly! Major brain cramp! Thanks little hurt too :) don't know why in the heck I tought it was other way around ;)

Call him up...or anyone to tske Flowers spot please.

Yes, that's right, as punishment for passed balls, we'll call up a guy who they say still needs to work on his defense! That way we can cut him in 2 weeks too!

I just cant believe how bad Flowers is. What a disappointment! He needs to be replaced ASAP. He is really making Hahn look bad these days. Taking a waiver on AJ to give this guy a chance seemed like a logical but not popular choice at the time. But it has truly backfired... I've seen enough- this dude cannot play baseball. Phegley has impressed so far down in the farm...although I would hate to see them rush him up, I'd say we have nothing to lose at this point.

Good god, the guy goes 2-4, has a .923 OPS in June, and because he apparently gets run over or something by Maicier Izturis (didn't see the game, shoot me), we get this thread bump (and 3 others).

Must have been his fault Jose Bautista hit a game tying homer too. He shouldn't have been exhaling at that moment.

.923 OPS in June. It's only 9 games, but they aren't winning without him either, so maybe we should just settle down a little bit.

Oh, and I do beg to differ on Flowers' ability to play baseball. You see, he is paid by the Chicago White Sox to do exactly that, so I'm pretty sure he can play baseball, and I think, generally speaking, he plays it pretty well.

I'm just going to chalk this post to not watching the game. Not that I blame you.

He was even worse with the pitch calling than usual, so yeah he has some of the responsibility.

Really? You mean when he wants the slider slow and away and Reed leaves it up and out over the plate?

Let's be rational here.

Again, at least watch the at bat before you comment.

Yeah, Reed f***ed that one up. He has a tendency to get cute on 1-2 pitches and teams go yard on him.

Reed has also been overused, some would say abused, this week.

To the point where posters on another board would worry he would end up like Bobby Thigpen after the 57 save season.

Are you being f***ing serious? Watch it. Reed hangs the f*** out of that slider. If he throws it in the right spot, it's a swing and a miss.

I like how we can kill our young closer but need to preserve Crain for the Red Sox playoff run.
