They're just being absurd & mocking pieces of American culture which aren't well understood elsewhere. Same things I'd think watching soccer.

I don't know that he's pretending it's cricket so much as he's never seen a baseball game and is pretending to understand the action. Imagine if you watched a game of cricket, for instance, and had to describe what was happening -- you'd probably inadvertently start using terms from other sports.

 

EDIT: nothing got me more than Ichiro = Joseph Gordon Levitt. Also, I knew his mind would be blown by the pickoff move...I remember having to explain that to my girlfriend

Yeah, ever tried explaining baseball to a 5 year old? Why guys run some times and not others. Why some guys are tagged out and other guys are out from stepping on bases, etc.
