This got no love since there wasn't a winner's thread to acknowledge it but Crain having a monster year . I wish him luck in the post season on another team. http://mlb.mlb.com/news/article.jsp?ymd=20...ws&c_id=cws

Quite an accomplishment. It's a shame it has come at such a lousy time, but way to go Jesse!

TY Crain for living up to your contract, performing very well actually during your tenure here, and TYVM for upping your trade value when we really needed it. Hopefully wherever you go they win it all, and hopefully Paulie goes with you too.

There's not too much to say because this season is crap, but for all the talk about putting little weight in stats put up without the pressure of contention, it's probably *more* difficult for a pitcher, especially a reliever in a shaky pen, to put up excellent numbers while the offense & defense is letting him down. Really, what the majority of our pitching staff is doing this year is pretty incredible. Crain's certainly leading the way in the pen.

Good job Jesse...keep upping that trade value!

Seriously though, congrats to Crain on quite an accomplishment.

Stones.

Even if we don't trade Crain, we can still get a draft pick for him next year.

Pretty sure we can't . It was discussed in one of the trade threads but someone would have to sign him to a contract he has zero chance of getting.

We would have to offer him a one-year, $13.3 million contract. He would accept that in a second, never gonna happen.

What are the odds he likes it here so much that we trade him for good prospects and resign him to a 1 yr deal and do it again

Zero. It's all about the Benjamins for Crain now. He'll get as much as he can for as long as he can.

He sure didn't show that kind of love to MN who he was with much longer.

Unless he's like Gavin Floyd and just feels so comfortable with Cooper and the coaching staff that he prefers to say.

That said, it's almost impossible to imagine him not being priced out of the market...and the wisdom of spending that kind of money on set-up guys (see Dotel/Linebrink) has always been dubious at best, especially for a team not likely to contend again until 2015 or 2016.

There's a chance that could be with the White Sox though. He might not get more than 2 years at his age, and the ChiSox will have some money to spend and probably want a veteran reliever for the pen this offseason.

The Sox would be fools to sign Jesse to the type of deal that he will gwt this winter. Even with a discount he is still looking at way too much for anon-Mariano reliever.
