July 29, 201312 yr Matt Speigel mentioned that Paul Sullivan will be parting ways with the Trib and Gonzalez will be sliding into the Cubs beat. I think that is what I heard, can anyone else confirm?
July 29, 201312 yr Confirmed he's going to the Cubs. http://www.chicagonow.com/chicago-sports-m...-white-sox-834/ Edited July 29, 201312 yr by Dick Allen
July 29, 201312 yr QUOTE (whitesox901 @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 02:27 PM) Why didn't they just replace the Cubs guy with the Gonzo's Sox replacement? You would have to ask them, but probably because they want their senior person on the team more people are interested in.
July 29, 201312 yr Not that I'd rather cover the Cubs than the Sox, but Trips to MIL, PIT, CIN, STL >>> trips to CLE, DET, KC, MIN
July 29, 201312 yr QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 02:34 PM) Not that I'd rather cover the Cubs than the Sox, but Trips to MIL, PIT, CIN, STL >>> trips to CLE, DET, KC, MIN KC is really really underrated.
July 29, 201312 yr QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 02:40 PM) KC is really really underrated. So is Minneapolis-St. Paul. Detroit and Cleveland I won't argue, but I wouldn't exactly say that Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are ideal vacation destinations.
July 29, 201312 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 02:46 PM) So is Minneapolis-St. Paul. Detroit and Cleveland I won't argue, but I wouldn't exactly say that Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are ideal vacation destinations. Pittsburgh is a really fun and cool city.
July 29, 201312 yr If I had to rate the 8 cities in terms of which ones I'd like to visit 3 times a year: 1) Milwaukee 2) Pittsburgh 3) Minneapolis 4) Cincinnati 5) Kansas City 6) Saint Louis 7) Detroit 8) Cleveland So, yeah, based on travel alone I'd take the Cubs beat over the Sox beat by far. I'd miss the once a year trips to Toronto, Boston, and Dallas but I'd be picking up San Diego, Denver, and Atlanta.
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 12:31 PM) You would have to ask them, but probably because they want their senior person on the team more people are interested in. Maybe they replace Gonzo with Jim Margulus from SSS . That would please many Sox fans.
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 03:50 AM) Maybe they replace Gonzo with Jim Margulus from SSS . That would please many Sox fans. They already filled the spot it seems: http://www.chicagonow.com/chicago-sports-m...-white-sox-834/
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:05 AM) Where is Paul Sullivan going? Munchkinland. He's going to represent the Lollipop Guild. Edited July 30, 201312 yr by Dick Allen
July 30, 201312 yr QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 09:10 AM) Munchkinland. He's going to represent the Lollipop Guild. Sounds like a promotion to me!
July 30, 201312 yr Sox are reportedly getting a novice who did back-up work on college beats and covered high school stuff. Draw your own conclusions. But I'd suggest looking elsewhere for coverage.
