New Deal Names Beggars Pizza “Pizza Served at U.S. Cellular Field”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Thursday, February 20, 2014

CHICAGO – The Chicago White Sox have reached a multiyear partnership agreement with Beggars Pizza to retain the exclusive right of the pizza served at U.S. Cellular Field.

Beggars Pizza will receive prominent brand exposure and product placement at concession stands throughout U.S. Cellular Field. The company also will be tied into a popular video board feature and included in a number of promotional dates each season.

Beggars Pizza has been serving an array of pizzas and Italian food to Chicagoland for over 37 years. Fans can enjoy their pizza at the ballpark starting on Opening Day at U.S. Cellular Field, Monday, March 31 vs. the Minnesota Twins.

“We are thrilled to partner with a family-owned and well-established Chicago brand like Beggars Pizza,” said Brooks Boyer, White Sox senior vice president of sales and marketing. “We take great pride in providing fans with the best ballpark experience possible. Adding Beggars to the best ballpark food lineup in baseball is a natural fit."

“It was the lifelong dream of my late brother Peter that Beggars Pizza be served at U.S. Cellular Field,” said Larry Garetto of Beggars. “The Garetto family is so proud to make this dream come true and combine these two Chicago staples, Beggars and the White Sox.”

being from blue island that houses 2 beggars pizzas, one being the original this is awesome.

I've always wondered just how much money is involved in these kind of deals.

They lay it on thick. While I am not a big fan of Beggar's product, although I do eat it when it is in the office,I do salute the White Sox for making a Chicago pizza company the official pizza instead of some frozen brand. It is definitely an upgrade.

They put a huge amount of toppings on their slices. I wonder if the ballpark version will be a little skimpier.

It's a tough call how they will handle it. If they are thinking this is a promotional thing to drive business at their stores, it should be the same. If they are looking at this isolated from their core business, maybe not.

I wonder if this signals an expansion plan.

Just read where DiGiorno's has been dropped. Beggars signed to multi year deal. COOOL!!! If you haven't tried Beggars,,,their motto is "we lay it on thick" If you are sausage lover....you'll get plenty of it. Just hope they don't skimp at the park, because in their restaurants sometimes you get almost tooo much sausage.

DiGiornos was an embarrassment to the White Sox. I wish Connies didnt drop the ball but having that frozen pizza was terrible. I'm told the drop in sales was not negligible.
