August 5, 201411 yr Dear god yes. His fastball velocity has decreased, and I've always found him overrated as a prospect, but he's still just 23 years old. Solid secondary pitches, right handed, etc. With that said, no chance he gets past the Cubs. I think Theo has to be chopping at the bit here. Perfect buy low type. August 5, 201411 yr They are speculating that he may be part of a trade. Perhaps the target that RH has been after?
August 5, 201411 yr Shows again that the Tigers really know their prospects. Hopefully Avisail Garcia proves the exception
August 5, 201411 yr QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 11:58 AM) They are speculating that he may be part of a trade. Perhaps the target that RH has been after? For Danks. Not that this would work out
August 5, 201411 yr QUOTE (chisoxfan310 @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 11:58 AM) He will end up with Cubs If the pitching starved Rockies don't claim him first, they get first dibs.
August 5, 201411 yr QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 12:18 PM) Couldn't we technically work out a trade for him? I'd be all for that. Not after July 31st.
August 5, 201411 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 12:23 PM) Not after July 31st. I think he means in the 10-day window in which he is designated for assignment, reaching a deal with the Marlins to acquire him instead of risking that he make it to the Sox via waivers.
August 5, 201411 yr QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 12:27 PM) I think he means in the 10-day window in which he is designated for assignment, reaching a deal with the Marlins to acquire him instead of risking that he make it to the Sox via waivers. I know, you still can't do that. You can't make trades after July 31st without a player passing through waivers.
August 5, 201411 yr QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 12:30 PM) I know, you still can't do that. You can't make trades after July 31st without a player passing through waivers. Duh. Major brain fart on my part. Yeah, you gotta go through waivers. haha.
August 5, 201411 yr QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 12:36 PM) Does this mean Danks will be scratched tonight? If I had to bet, I bet it means John Danks hits waivers tomorrow, that way any deal can happen in between his starts.

Thats what I meant, didn't think about the waivers part and this being post 7/31.
August 5, 201411 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 11:39 AM) If I had to bet, I bet it means John Danks hits waivers tomorrow, that way any deal can happen in between his starts. I'd imagine, knowing how the Marlins do biznuts... the Sox would need to chomp like, OMG almost all of Danks inbound skrilla.
August 5, 201411 yr Yeah he won't get to us. Too bad. Hard to believe they couldn't have traded him before the deadline if they were five days from DFA'ing him.

August 5, 201411 yr QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 12:51 PM) Thats if he hasn't already cleared waivers. Turner may have already cleared at this point as well. Having not heard anything about it, I am guessing it hasn't happened yet, but who knows for sure.
August 5, 201411 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 12:52 PM) Having not heard anything about it, I am guessing it hasn't happened yet, but who knows for sure. Players placed on waivers are always usually kept quiet. For all we know half the Sox roster has cleared waivers by now.
August 5, 201411 yr QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Aug 5, 2014 -> 12:58 PM) No idea why they'd trade Turner for Danks They won't. Maybe someone like Rondon though.
