Another catcher, probably a few of these middle IF's (Simeon for starters), and Garcia (who will be here by then).

 

Perhaps another arm or two, but not sure who that would be.

 

Does anyone expect Sale or Quintana to be shut down or put on a pitch count (even if the team doesn't admit it) in the 2nd half of September, meaning they miss their final 2 or 3 starts?

I'd say Phegley, Rienzo, Surkamp, and Semien are all locks to be up here. Sanchez and Wilkins are likely are both likely. Don't see anyone else. Maybe 1 of those journeymen.

Oh yeah Thompson too.

Taylor Thompson probably gets another look, if not just for another warm body to absorb innings.

Aren't the Sox at 39 on the 40 man roster? Meaning nobody has to be DFA'd to make room for Avi?

 

 

Probably Rodon to get more work in (with the minor league season ending the alternative is him just going home getting no work in and we all know he got a late jump into his pro career.)

He doesn't deserve a September call-up IMO. That's not to say the Sox won't give him one, but it wouldn't be for anything he's done on a baseball field this year. Same goes for Jared Mitchell. Guys should be rewarded for positive seasons, not being high draft picks or former top 100 prospects.
