"LaRoche is in what I like to call the "harvesting" phase of one's career. He has mastered the art of selectively pulling the ball in the air, and is going to ride that skill off into the sunset. Pitchers will eventually find and consistently attack his ever-increasing holes as his physical gifts fade, and that will be that. He is, however, moving to extremely fertile soil, a place where Paul Konerko, a similar to slightly lesser offensive player at a similar stage, in my opinion, was able to be extremely productive in his age 35 and 36 seasons. Take a look at a comparison of the field-sector park factors for LaRoche's old and new parks to get a sense for the infusion of youth his offensive game could experience this season....White Sox, Adam LaRoche, two years, $25 million, great value. Those words, at this moment in time, comfortably belong in the same sentence."

So, news organizations generally aren't very happy when websites excerpt entire articles, especially when they do so without adding a link. A good rule of thumb is to excerpt a short block of text that you think makes an important point and then add in the actual hyperlink to the website - otherwise we're technically committing copyright infringement and just hoping that no one will ever complain.

So, NCSoxfan, are you telling us that Laroche will not be a two continuation of the Adam Dunn era? Please say yes.

So LaRoche is a left-handed version of Paul Konerko from a couple years ago.

I always suspected our park was hitter-friendly. Good post, thanks.

Yeah I understand nothing much new was in that article but were all prone to confirmation bias - so always nice to hear others say a signing was a good idea!

Haha man I really wanted to read that article and then noticed it was Insider. Confirmation bias not to get insider ;)

I don't know much about him (National league) and I'm hoping

and praying it's not a Adam Dunn repeat. thanks, douglas

No, thank YOU douglas!

We don't mind at all if people send the text of insider articles over PM.

So, at 34 Paul Konerko was a lesser version of 34 year-old Adam LaRoche?

I find that fascinating since Paul Konerko had a .977 OPS at age 34 and his CAREER OPS is within 10 points of Adam LaRoche's best season.

F*ck that sentence and f*ck that article. They're both white first basemen. The comparisons end there.
