Potential punching bags

Were things to go south this year, who do you think would be scapegoat #1? Or most likely blame candidate, deserved or not?

Some possibilities:

-Giant target on Ventura now that he finally has big talent now

-Avisail

-Conor for not being big time Chicago tough demeanor-wise

It will be weird not having Beckham on this list but alas all traditions must end. He's now a background piece.

Robin.

We don't need another pessimism thread. There's already one of those.

- Ventura

- LaRoche

- Gillaspie

- Danks

- Samardzija

- Robertson

I'm all in on hating Gordon Beckham just because.

No doubt in will Ventura #1. This board and city in general always blame coaches/managers.

Beckham will be blamed because he is a wasted spot and prevents the Sox from having a much better player on the team who would have led them to the World Series.

Avisail?

Not a chance, he's a young kid that is still developing playing in what will be his first full season.

Robin is #1 by far.

LaRoche. When he is bad he is worse than Bad Tyler Flowers.

Micah if he wins the job and opens 1-for-35 or some such horrible start.

Seriously ... Flowers of course.

Third would be the new guys (at least that's been my style in the past) if they pull a Dunn and start oh, so slowly.

Robertson. Long, stressful innings from a highly-paid closer are going to drive people bananas in here.

Soxtalk posters or whitesox players?

I don't think we'll hate on Micah -- I think that most of us have accepted that he may simply not be ready yet, and there's no reason to believe they'll keep him up and let him fail all year like they sort of did with Semien.

Agreed, same here.

Duke blows a lead? Beckham's fault

Danks gives up 6 homers? Beckham's fault

Flowers strikes out? Beckham's fault

The Umps...They always make bad calls against my team

I blame Dick Allen for supporting Beckham and Danks too wholeheartedly...

Maybe Wandy Rodriguez will be next if we pick him up...if nothing else, we can thank him a little bit for 2005.
