4/22 Games

Not a good game for either Hawkins/Anderson

Looks like Trey Michalczewski left today's game after one at-bat, hope it's not a serious injury.

Dykstra is ready for AA.

Jason Coats on pace for over 100 doubles, lol.

I was confused by this, since the box score kept moving between having Trey 0-4, K, and what it shows now. The WS recap doesn't mention Trey leaving the game, and the guy that replaced him, Ethan Wilson, doesn't have an MILB record past 2011.

Really strange.

Also, Guerrero is clearly ready for A+. Double promotion?

Wilson missed 2011-2014, but is indeed back with the Dash, and that was him playing today. I know because I talked to him after the game, for an article I'm writing.

No idea what the story with Trey was though, I didn't get to ask that.

How many games have they played? I don't think anyone is clearly anything.

True, although he is repeating low A after doing pretty well there last year.

Hawkins, fwiw, is out OPSing Anderson by quite a bit...even though it feels like Anderson's been the one playing the best by far of the two up until this point.

Early season, one or two good games can change the complexion quite quickly.

Just curious for those who have seen:

What is a legit projection for Dykstra?

back level starter?

mid relief?

AAAA?

Eager to hear from people who have seen him. Great start this year. But only 10 Ks in 20 innings and he's old for High A.

Davidson wins in for Charlotte with a HR in 9th, also a 2B.

Hope.

He's still fringy, but the numbers this year aren't simply that he's adjusted to the level. He also added a new cutter, and a report from a BA guy at his game said it was working quite well. He's already got fine command of 3 other pitches. No one plus pitch, but the combo is intriguing. I'd put his chances similar to a Mike Recchia (who actually hasn't started too well this year).

I said it last year, and I will still say it, he will be the future at third base.

Dykstra is getting enough attention to make the "hot sheet" at some non-BA publications.

As far as Davidson, sure...if Gillaspie falls short the first 3 months of the season, you're probably going to see a change...if Davidson can demonstrate sustained success, meaning this month isn't just a blip or anomaly or random noise like a Jared Mitchell hot streak.

LOL.

Rick Hahn wouldn't have traded Reed for Davidson and pushed Jeff Keppinger out so quickly if they felt at the time that Conor would be the long-term solution at 3B.

Rooting for Davidson myself.

Also I hope Guerrero doesn't have the case of the YIPS similar to Lester. Had 2 errors today on pickoffs and I believe from the 4 errors he's had in his professional career, 3/4 have been from pickoff attempts. Yes, I've been following this kid before it was cool. :P

And it's still early, but it looks like Jaye has FINALLY figured out how to pitch to AA hitters.

It's cool now, lol?

Did whoever has adopted him for the prospect alert not do a good enough PR spin job, lol?

I would think Adolfo, Montas, Hawkins, Anderson, Danish and Adams would be the "cool kids" of our system...with Davidson inching back into the picture, and maybe Trayce.

You should stick to the pale hose threads and talking about Kris Bryant and leave the "prospect alert" talks to the big boys. Been doing this a long time my friend. Wasn't talking about "cool" in terms of status or upside.

Margalus saying Michalczewski benched for not running out a pop-up that dropped fair. He was thrown out. So, no injury.

Man that Kannapolis lineup is horrible prospect-wise. Any chance a few guys get called up from extended spring training in the next month or so?

Usually are a few. As far as position players though, not a ton of prospects to call up. By my count here are the position players of note that are in Ext ST:

Ryan Jones (1B)

Ryan Leonards (2B)

John Ziznewski (3B)

Juan Silverio (3B)

Jake Jarvis (2B)

Audry Santana (SS)

Victor Velazquez (?)

Jordan Yallen (2B)

Johan Cruz (SS)

Michael Danner (OF)

Micker Adolfo (OF)

Antonio Rodriguez (OF)

Louis Silverio (OF)

Brian Fletcher (OF)

Zach Fisher ©

Ryan Plourde ©

Joxelier Garcia ©

Adolfo is obviously the biggest prospect there but I doubt they rush him to A ball yet. Cruz in the same boat. I think the most likely guys are probably Ziznewski, Leonards, Jarvis, Rodriguez and Fisher.

Why is Silverio in Extended? He had a decent year in AA last year and got some decent exposure in AAA even. He should at least be in Birmingham.

No idea, he could be injured. Certainly I don't think Jeremy Farrell is holding him back. In fact with Farrell starting there, that tells me they originally planned on someone else being there. Not sure if that was Delmonico (who is on the restricted list for unknown reasons) or Silverio.
