WMVP's signal was awful. I'm from Oswego and it was a nightmare. Live in rural Kane County now and it's a little better but not much.

Must be pointed the other way then, because I got games almost all of the way to Cleveland in the past.

I believe it is. I saw a map a long time ago (on WSI I think) that showed their signal strength and it was skewed more towards the east.

IIRC, there is some rule or law or something that they have to do that to not interfere with some other radio signal that is farther west.

It was very hard to pick up in the Quad Cities...especially at night.

Nothing like the days of 670 WMAQ.

I got 670 all of the way into Toronto while on my honeymoon.

I pulled 720 in Idaho. It's not crystal clear but you can make it out.

For an AM station that is really bad.

New pbp guy with DJ would be nice.

I couldn't agree more. Get rid of the pre and post game host too.

I really hate to hear radio hosts berate and be rude to fans. Dude, you have the power. If a caller is rude, dump him and move on to the next caller.

The entire WSCR station reeks of Bernstein.

I was surprised to pick up WMVP in southern Georgia when driving down to Florida a few years back- nothing clear, but you could make out what was being said. It's hit or (often) miss when I'm trying to listen to a Bulls game at home in the west suburbs, though.

it was maybe ok in the beginning, more like the 90's with the howard stern bullcrap. now it is too much and too old and too boring...

No it's not. WMVP has one of the best AM signals in the entire USA.

There are only 57 '50,000 Watt Clear Channel' radio stations in the United States (90 in North America). WMVP is one of the 57 stations, out of nearly 5,000 AM stations in the country.

There are 2 types of clear channel stations:

1) Continental (28 stations in USA) - only 1 station is allowed to transmit on the frequency day and night with 50,000 watts. 670 WSCR, 720 WGN, 780 WBBM, and 890 WLS belong to this category.

2) Regional (29 stations in USA) - up to 2 or 3 stations in North America can transmit on this frequency at the same time day and night with 50,000 watts. AM 1000 WMVP belongs to this category. Clear channel stations in Chicago, Seattle and Mexico City transmit on AM 1000. Therefore, WMVP does not reach some distant states at night compared to WSCR, WGN, WBBM, or WLS, but the signal is very good in the Chicago metro area.

WMVP comes in fairly strong (thanks lake michigan) all the way up in N. Michigan. Lots of nights lying awake as a kid listening to the games.
