November 9, 201510 yr Welcome back to an annual tradition, where we look at a free agent player and see which team makes the most sense for him. You might remember our brilliant predictions from last year: Pablo Sandoval, Giants Jon Lester, Yankees Hanley Ramirez, Dodgers Max Scherzer, Tigers Yasmany Tomas, Yankees James Shields, Red Sox Melky Cabrera, Blue Jays Chase Headley, Padres Nailed it. Oh, and almost all of the guesses about contract size were overinflated, too. We've learned some lessons, we have. This year will be different. Ha ha, just kidding. It'll be the same. But the fun isn't in getting the predictions right. It's about exploring a player and his value to different teams around the league. It's not like you have games to watch. Let's talk about a player. http://www.sbnation.com/mlb/2015/11/6/9681...-dodgers-giants
November 9, 201510 yr Can we make this for all free agents instead of just one? That's a lot of threads lol. Zack Grienke- Dodgers Yoenis Cespedes- Tigers David Price- Cubs Jason Heyward- White Sox Chris Davis- Cardinals Justin Upton- Orioles Jordan Zimmermann- Blue Jays Johnny Cueto- Red Sox Alex Gordon- Royals Jeff Samardzija- Giants Mike Leake- Giants Ian Desmond- Mets Alexei Ramirez- White Sox That's all I got for now.

November 9, 201510 yr QUOTE (whitesoxjr27 @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 11:41 AM) Speaking of the Cubs. http://chicago.suntimes.com/sports/7/71/10...ve-trade-market This would make better sense for them. Capitalize on some expendable young talent that you have to acquire fairly older talent heading into their prime. Then you don't have to spend big money on acquiring the high priced FA's. I just always felt that the Cubs were staying away from trading any of their young guys, other than Castro when he had no trade value.
November 9, 201510 yr Am I the only one who doesn't think Price signs with the Cubs? He'll cost an arm and a leg, and the fact that the Cubs have been linked to Heyward and Gordon makes me think they'll try to sign one of those two and a 2nd-tier SP instead. Signing Price could also mean there's not enough to resign Arrieta when the time comes. I don't think they'll want to be stuck paying three SP in their mid-30s almost $100 million dollars several years from now when it's time to pay all their hitters.

Historically when Theo has money, he throws around money.
November 9, 201510 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 08:09 PM) Historically when Theo has money, he throws around money. One of the players they're interested in that I really hope they don't get is O'Day. He'll dominate in the NL if he goes there.
November 9, 201510 yr QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 01:09 PM) Historically when Theo has money, he throws around money. I am not certain he has six figure contract money and they need to figure out where Arrieta lands for them next year.
November 9, 201510 yr Author Is Theo really the God they make him out to be? I know he did well with the Red Sox but come on.
November 9, 201510 yr QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Nov 9, 2015 -> 01:51 PM) I am not certain he has six figure contract money and they need to figure out where Arrieta lands for them next year. The Cubs made $73 million in profit in 2014. They will make more in 2015, and even more in 16. They have cash to burn. They could sign Grienke and Price, and still have operating income left over.
January 12, 201610 yr QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 09:44 AM) How's everyone's predictions so far? Nope.
