November 12, 201510 yr The White Sox were one of “many teams” to which agent Brodie Van Wagenen made a presentation regarding Yoenis Cespedes, though the greater needs for the ChiSox come at catcher, third base, second base and shortstop. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2015/11/carl...es-rockies.html
November 12, 201510 yr Of course they'd go to the presentation, why not? They want to know what's going on in the market.
November 12, 201510 yr The fact that signing Cespedes does not have draft pick compensation attached is going to drive his price through the roof.
November 12, 201510 yr No draft pick is a plus. But he certainly has his negatives. I'd be fine with a 5 year $100+
November 12, 201510 yr QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 01:46 PM) No draft pick is a plus. But he certainly has his negatives. I'd be fine with a 5 year $100+ And that would be $30 million+ more than any contract the White Sox have ever given someone
November 12, 201510 yr I do not want to pay for this dude's career-year he just had for a different team.

November 12, 201510 yr QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 01:55 PM) I do not want to pay for this dude's career-year he just had for a different team. This. I was all about getting him at the deadline and then trying to lock him up, but, his market went to a place after the deadline that the Sox need to avoid.
November 12, 201510 yr Wouldn't he be the type (amongst the available talent) of impact player that the lineup needs? They have holes in the lineup at C, 2B, SS, DH and 3B with some questions in the OF, but this lineup is missing run producers outside of Abreu (and possibly Cabrera).
November 12, 201510 yr QUOTE (spiderman @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 02:45 PM) Wouldn't he be the type (amongst the available talent) of impact player that the lineup needs? But which Cespedes are you going to get? The one that put up .861 and .870 OPSs in 2012 and 2015 or the one that put up .737 and .751 in 2012 and 2013. The one that put up a 1.048 OPS in his first 41 games with the Mets or the one that put up a sub .600 OPS the remainder of the season including the playoffs? He is wildly inconsistent and that is the main reason I wouldn't even entertain the idea a paying him the close to $25 million per year he's looking for. November 12, 201510 yr QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) My hunch is that Justin Upton would be a safer bet, but who knows? For sure but Upton costs a top 30 draft pick and Cespedes does not.
November 12, 201510 yr QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Nov 12, 2015 -> 03:27 PM) For sure but Upton costs a top 30 draft pick and Cespedes does not. Cespedes will get a lot more regardless I would bet.
November 12, 201510 yr Plus there's the whole Cuban connection...wonder if that'll have any, if at all, impact on our chances at him.
