I doubt Fowler goes back to the Cubs.

I wonder if this comes back to what we discussed a few nights ago? Cubs trade Soler for pitching, sign Fowler for CF and Heyward plays RF where he belongs.

I'm thinking a bonkers deal with Tampa that includes Baez and Soler for Odorizzi and McGee.

geez that will be a nice trade.

Speaking of secondary options. What's going on with the Dodgers log jam? They still have 5 or 6 starting outfielders on that team right?

Ethier is totally someone that could be linked to the Sox

That would be bonkers but who would be the back up IF for the cubs?

A left handed outfield bat with pop would be nice for the middle of the order. When the Frazier trade was first announced I was surprised Ethier wasn't in the trade as well.

I would be alright with Kemp but the Sox could really use a left handed bat for the middle of the lineup.

Kemp might be cheaper to acquire since SD would like to shed his salary. If SD offered some money and asked for a reasonable return, I'd be fine with Kemp.

Funny how there really haven't been any rumors about Kemp being shopped. Maybe I missed em?

Kemp is horrible on defense

Would be shocked to see the Cubs trade both of those guys in a single deal.

DH doesn't need a glove. What's their situation at 1b? Laroche dump possibility?

Kind of funny that Fowler rumors are coming out on the same day where a Cespedes signing bacame seemingly more immanent. Cespedes is suspected to sign by or on Friday and now on Thursday the Fow!er market picks up. Just spit balling here but imo, teams know Cespedes is about to sign and with whom so they have moved on to Fowler. Again, just spit balling and there's no source behind my insane claims. :)

I was cheerleading for this last offseason when his value was at it's lowest. It still makes sense now. Could platoon with Avi. Do the Dodgers, who have Micah and 2 other second basemen, want Sanchez too? I don't even know what they'd want other than more prospects who are better than the ones we'd want to give them.

When googling Fowler's name a few times, I've come across his twitter and gave it a quick look. Cubs fans really want him back pretty bad from what I've read. Wouldn't surprise me in the least if he ended up back with the Cubs. The cubs were in the NLCS and have since, on paper, gotten better so if I was Fowler I'd want to go back to the cubs as well.

Not to toot my own horn but I have said a few times that I think the Sox find their OF upgrade via grade, given their budget situation. I still think Hahn is trying to find the OF equivalent of the Lawrie trade where the Sox give a few really young prospects but not top prospects. I have no idea who that outfielder might be though.

i assemble this list 2 weeks ago.....

san - kenp, salary dump.

La dod - ethier - salary dump

brew - braun - salary dump

yanks - brett gardner - this one is interesting, i read the yanks wanted out from his contract, so it can be salary dump or 2 low level pitchers, he can play CF, but i don't understand why they want him out????

i am sure i may have missed some. i was bored so i did this list.

Posted this in the Cespedes thread previously but thought it might warrant a separate thread; feel free to move if needed.

I really don't want to give up the pick for him, especially to the Cubs, but Fowler is an intriguing fit as a secondary option after YC/JU. It's not as splashy, but he could play an effective CF and it would allow us to move Eaton to LF and put Melky in the DH spot. And I think most importantly, Fowler would fit perfectly in the 2 hole and provide the Sox with 2 guys at the top who get on base at a good clip in front of the heart of the order. And Sliding Melky down to 5th or 6th in the lineup is a better spot for his bat to produce imo.

Having said all that, I of course prefer Cespedes :D

oh f*** no! especially if they lose a pick!

Fowler is goofy, but would fit well as a #2 hitter (Melky there is silly). But the comp pick price is too high. Sox biggest need is to build the org, something they lack the patience to do.

but what might the brewers be looking for, if they wanted to get out from Braun salary???

Soler or Baez for pitching to TB and then Fowler coming back makes too much sense...

Plus Soler upped his value a bit with that flash of potential in the post-season.
