Chen's deal is for $80 million/5, with an opt-out after the second year. Sixth-year vesting option based on IP (180 in '20, or 360 '19-20).

If the vesting option kicks in for Chen, it's worth $96 million over six years.

And the White Sox 2nd round pick moves up another spot. Currently picking 8th in round 2.

Yeah and may be able to turn him into a draft pick if he opts out.

The Marlins will probably do Chen like they did Buehrle and trade him after the first year of his contract is over. This time next year, Chen will be wearing another teams cap and jersey.
