January 13, 201610 yr We have our (lesser) version already. Davis doesn't strike me as a guy who will continue to be high obp. Really he's only had 2 such years.
January 13, 201610 yr Now you're talking. Except forget about LF. Let him DH and just write off La Roche as a sunk cost. If Avi couldn't hack it in RF, just let Shuck play there. I really wanted Davis way back in 2010, after Thome left. You know me, always coveting a left handed slugger. I took a lot of heat here, from those who insisted he wasn't any good. That was one I got right. Unfortunately, the Sox would never spend the money. However, that would really make their offense dangerous.

January 13, 201610 yr Fun read but I think this quote says it all. "The odds are that Davis ends up back with the Orioles, though. In fact, I'd call the odds overwhelming. I'll be shocked if anyone goes above 7-150M for Davis, but I've been shocked before. It'll be fun to see how it plays out." I agree that's its difficult to imagine another team offering more than Baltimore and its likely he ends up back with the O's . I think both Davis and Baltimore are stupid. Davis for turning down that 7/150M offer and Baltimore for making that kind of offer to player with such a tiny market for his services.
January 13, 201610 yr QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 12, 2016 -> 07:57 PM) Cardinals for Davis does make a lot of sense. That would actually be real fun.
January 13, 201610 yr Author Unless they're bluffing about Moss or Adams (despite his anemic/injury-filled 2015) playing first...or even Holliday. That power boost in the middle of the line-up would go a long ways toward compensating for the OBP/defensive loss of Heyward. However, the Cardinals are never going to shell out that kind of money for five years, let alone seven. Heyward was a rare exception because of his age. Rangers have Moreland, Fielder for 1B/DH and then Hamilton/Ruggiano platoon in LF, but coming back to the organization where he started his career could make some degree of sense, plus I think Davis is originally from Texas.
