Doug Fister to the Astros

Featured Replies

I would've liked to have seen him come to the Sox, especially on a 1 year deal.

Oh well.

That $7 million (+5 in incentives) probably takes us out of the running for another position player.

The Astros can have Fister and his 86mph fasball. No thank you to Fister.

Why was his velocity so bad last year? Was he injured or something?

If he has arm problems that I don't know about, then I'm happy that the Sox passed up on him.

Astros rotation options:

Keuchel (20-8, 2.48)

McHugh (19-7, 3.89)

McCullers (6-7, 3.22)

Fister

Fiers (7-10, 3.69)

Feldman (5-5, 3.90)

That's pretty solid I'd say

Imagine if they would have drafted Rodon instead of Brady Aiken?

Wow.

And drafted Bryant instead of Appel.

Fister had a flexor strain that that is suspected to be the cause of his down season and velo drop. Who knows, maybe he's healthy now but imo, not worth the risk for a team like the Sox.

Should change the thread title to Fister in the Astro

I barely knew him!

Is his deal guaranteed? I would've extended a minor league deal w/a spring training invite to him, but that's about it. Too many unanswered questions regarding his velocity dip to give him a big league deal.

The Latos deal is even more of a steal once I remembered what Fister got.
