March 2, 201610 yr http://www.si.com/mlb/2016/03/02/mlb-trade...rankings-part-1 Keri has Jose Quintana as an honorable mention this year and he has Carlos Rodon as #42.
March 2, 201610 yr Even a bright guy like Keri is severely underrating Quintana. Mass perception is a strange thing.

March 2, 201610 yr I'm pretty certain Q will just have to get a 15 win season for people to take notice. For all the talk about "wins" not being good to evaluate a pitcher, you can tell its dragging him down.
March 2, 201610 yr ref Q, i am with those that are saying that he will need to produce wins to show his value. other than that, he will never get his just recognition. now, if he doesn't, will that mean, that we, the fans of everything about the white sox maybe are being to bias???

Nah. Advanced metrics have pretty much made him a top 15-20 pitcher in baseball. His numbers are pretty identical to Lester and most would consider him an ace.

March 2, 201610 yr Quintana has just been on a losing team his entire career and doesn't throw 97mph so most people overlook him and would call him a "good #3 on a contending team". I feel like in the court of public opinion, your team's success has something to do with your perceived value as a pitcher. Guys that break that usually have what Hawk would call "Nintendo Stuff" like Sale or Kazmir back when the Rays sucked.
March 2, 201610 yr Lester has/had all that postseason and World Series experience on his resume...unless you're Kershaw or Price, you have to prove yourself in October, be a #1 draft pick or have filthy stuff to register on most radar screens. If Quintana pitched on all those Braves' teams in the 1990's, he'd be Glavine-lite. Edited March 2, 201610 yr by caulfield12
March 3, 201610 yr Part 2 http://www.si.com/mlb/2016/03/03/mlb-trade...rankings-part-2 Abreu at 24th.
March 4, 201610 yr Third and final part. Sale at 12, and for once there's a pitcher ahead of him - Archer at 11. Can't get too upset with that given the two extra years Archer's deal has, but still doesn't quite feel right. Sale's just better. http://www.si.com/mlb/2016/03/04/mlb-trade...rankings-part-3

March 4, 201610 yr QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Mar 4, 2016 -> 01:16 PM) That two years is a BIG deal, though. Sure, but if Sale gets 6 WAR per year and Archer gets 4 then they both come in at 24, only Sale's would be bunched up closer to now and he'd win on the present value calculation. Like I said, I can't complain too hard. It's close. Depends how you project them, but 6-to-4 seems pretty reasonable and it's not like Archer is some breakout 24-year-old. He's older than Sale.
