3/26 vs Reds

Featured Replies

Split squad vs Reds. Sox play the Dodgers tonight, with Fulmer on the mound.

Eaton, Lawrie, Frazier, Ishikawa, Garcia, Rollins, Sands, Coats, Avila

Rodon starts

Edited by flavum

Rodon doesn't have much today. His velocity seems way down as Reds are unloading on his fastball.

I just turned on the game, but it seems like Rodon is going through that "dead arm" period.

Benetti certainly brings out the weird in Steve Stone

Maybe a little too much friendly banter to the point of overkill

Eaton broke a bat over his knee after striking out

At least they seem to like each other.

Saw a tweet that Avila is 1-17 with 7 walks and 12 strikeouts.

Avi works a walk

Another one

@scottmerkin

Hector Sanchez caught the fourth inning for the White Sox, taking over for Alex Avila.

@scottmerkin

Avila has lower back stiffness. Day to day

Rodon is scaring me

Very few swings and misses

This is ST I don't care at all. Avila back soreness = more worrisome.

Tired arm/building up innings/maybe throwing more fastballs/maybe working on the changeup/who knows. All plausible. he stayed in the game and threw 95 pitches. His job is to be on point for 100 pitches in 2 starts.

Avila was never gonna stay healthy all season. He looks about ten years older than he is.

I don't disagree, but the team needs him to.

Can anyone confirm Rollins' actual age?

He's been working on specific things all spring. Not worried in the slightest.

Swing looks good today

Thankfully we have Navarro to back him up, and not a .600 OPS guy from AAA.

Yeah...Stone just asked Benetti if he could chew on his arm because Benetti didn't think to ask him if he wanted any of his meatball sandwich...

Pretty worried about Avilas back. Last time the sox had that injury in camp led to a players kid not being allowed to come in the club house all the time.
