Trayce Thompson

Featured Replies

Since everyone seems to be in a pretty down mood, what with the Sox blowing a 7-1 lead in the 9th inning, why not pile on??

I haven't been paying attention to Thompson over in LA, but when you look, he's hitting .279, .342, .538 in 114 plate appearances. OPS+ of 139.

Of course, that's better than anyone on the White Sox is hitting right now, and by a pretty good margin.

Cheap, and under control for many years, he'd look pretty good in CF instead of Austin Jackson. We might not have had enough to pry away Todd Frazier, who is our best hitter at the moment. But perhaps someone else would have sufficed.

In any event, when was the last time we traded away a young hitter as good as Thompson appears to be right now?

I really don't think you get Frazier without Thompson. And I'd like to see Trayce put up these numbers over a full season before I start feeling regrets.

I have no regrets over the trade, and wish Trayce well.

Glad to have Frazier.

Yup. Still a great trade. Would do it 10/10 every single time.

He plays in the NL? Trayce Thompson is an outfielder, we need an infielder. Fine with the trade, they have bigger issues than trading him. Like a closer that blows a HUGE lead?!?

Jackson's been doing better recently, but we still need another bat who can preferably play CF well enough to keep Eaton in RF.

Thompson on the team would have moved Cabrera to DH, and given us one of the best defensive outfields in baseball.

Poor Greg. That bet on OKC isn't looking too hot about right now.

He isn't playing full time right now. His matchups are cherry picked. For example, he didn't play against DeGrom a few days ago. His true average as a regular is probably more like .250 in the NL.

Trayce maybe just a platoon player against LHPs, while Frazier is leading the AL in HRs.

Great trade by the Sox,

Come on, guys and girls. There is a lot to get mad about. But this isn't it.

"We gave up something to get something!!"

Frazier has been great. What more do you want?

Kid would be a 2 WAR player right now if LA would just keep him in CF (but as a 4th OF, they can't obviously). Still pretty impressive for him to basically match what he did last season.

Someone should teach him how to slide into third base.

Yeah, nobody would have thought it at the time, but that base (assuming he scored) represented the eventual winning run.

Another case of when it rains, it pours or everything that can go wrong will go wrong...just as much as things went almost perfectly right getting out to 23-10 and 6 outs away from 24-10.

Glad we were able to move him to get frazier
