  1. Note that this just says he won’t be on the Opening Day roster. Is it possible that he’s just starting the year on the IL? I know it’s likely he’s gone, but just throwing it out there.
  2. I've been thinking this for weeks. Yes, it has everything to do with who the manager is. But Wainwright and Molina as a combo, for one year, make a lot more sense than you'd think on the surface for this team. It allows Collins and/or Mercedes to get at bats at DH early on. The organization needs to figure out if they can hit, or not. You can probably get both guys for a total of $10 million, which stays within this Godforsaken budget. Wainwright ain't pretty. But he's a veteran. And he's a winner. Having that around for a year has a lot of benefits to a young, emerging Kopech, Cease, Crochet, etc. Wainwright also takes the ball. That's what we are looking for until Kopech is ready. 10-12 starts. Anything beyond that is gravy.
  3. He just woke up from a Walker Texas Ranger nap and is turning a bunch of Smirnoff into urine.
  4. I have been lurking for years. This isn't a Soxtalk problem, though. We literally can't know any more about the guy. He likes dogs. His wife is Canadian. He is a Codeify guy. He's Australian. He liked the Sox in a sound bite after he shoved it up their ass in game 3. He's also Liam Hendriks. Not Mariano Rivera. Sign him. Or don't. FFS!
  5. Liam Hendriks. Weeks and weeks of checking to see if we got Liam. Hendriks. Good God, baseball. Figure it out.
  6. I've said this before. Is this guy and the circus that surrounds him really worth it?
  7. As someone with a Royals fan living next door to me, I can tell you it almost killed some KC fans too.
  8. I skimmed through it. Shockingly, it has nothing of substance. Top 5 fan bases in terms of their courtship of him. Honestly, I think this guy might be a disaster. I know everyone wants him, but I question how long his act lasts.
  9. Hendricks 3/40 (13.3) Quintana 1/10 with option for 2nd year at 11 and 500k buyout (10.5) Schwarber 1/6
  10. Now don't bring his dumb ass back! But solid post. Absolutely.
  11. I walked away for a few hours, saw this topic was hot, got excited and...ugh.
  12. Who knows who's trolling and who isn't? I'm not trying to be a jerk.
  13. I'm not Jay's potato chips or Susie's Beef, either. Just hopped back on this board today with a little time to kill this weekend!
  14. 1. Game 2 in '05. Paid $675 for a ticket. Remember vividly, when Vizcaino tied the game in the 9th, thinking how long it would take me to get that money back. When Pods hit the walk off, I was watching the outfielders and hoping for a triple. Never dreamed he would hit one out. Got home at 2 am, put on a pot of coffee, and re-watched the game on *VHS*. Went to work on no sleep. 2. Final game at the old park. Parents surprised me with two tickets for an early 13th birthday present. I was so sad that year, as that place was such a huge part of early childhood memories. Getting to be there for the last out is something I'll never forget.
  15. Best option, in my opinion, is Moncada. However, I think that won't work due to his struggles in '18 with being too selective. Robert is not the answer. He needs to be a producer in the middle-to-bottom of the order. What about Grandal? Might seem nuts, but the dude gets on base...
  16. This is, as stated above, a great deal. Happy that innings totals are not a part of the option. I hate the idea of the team having to manipulate that, if necessary. This is well done!
  17. Indeed they are. But prospects don't get "blocked". They just don't. They either force their way to the big leagues, or they don't. Collins has not forced his way into anything. His draft status means nothing to me.
  18. Had to wait until they did something worthwhile before opening myself back up to the heartache again!
  19. Long time lurker here. My two cents, which echo those of many others... Solid, deep organizations don't make decisions about seizing opportunities based on blocking prospects. Look no further than Tucker in Houston. That dude, without question, was major league ready (with a heck of a lot more upside than Collins). Did Houston stop pursuing guys when the opportunity came? Collins will be ok. The more depth you create, the better. I want 30-40 guaranteed bombs in my lineup. That's, barring a catastrophe, what EE brings. For one year, it's an easy decision. The rest can be figured out later.
  20. Hats off, indeed. I spent so much time on this site last winter, the very thought of ever returning made my stomach turn (as my last day here was the day the Machado news turned all of us upside down). While the work is by no means done, credit is due. For me, jumping on Grandal early was genius. It also hurt the Sox from a PR standpoint, as most of the general public had "forgotten" about that deal by the time the Winter meetings rolled around. Maybe these guys, who do this for a living, actually know what they're doing...
  21. Woke up three times in the middle of the night to check this site and two Twitter accounts that are likely BS. Suffice it to say, this has gone far enough. It really is sad what this has become. My 7 year old asks me every day if we have Machado yet. It's impossible for me to explain how there are all of these players without teams, yet spring training has started. Tough for a kid to get behind his team when he doesn't know who he's pulling for! This will be my first time saying this, but today has to be the day. P.S.-not buying insider's story. Why would Machados's team meet in Vegas? What do they owe the Padres to keep the meeting a secret? No chance.
  22. I was there. Greatest individual game played in Chicago in the city's history. Don't forget, also included Konerko's first-pitch slam.
