  1. THE ADAM ENGEL LINE. .204 career AVG.
  2. Exactly. Where did this idea come from that Alonso is a good hitter? He plays 1B where the expectations are high for one's bat and he has never matched up in that area. He's a 32 year old with a .743 career OPS.
  3. Hahn spent around $45 million this past offseason. How many of these guys are you excited to have in Sox uniforms? Hahn would probably lose at the shell game each and every time. Herrera ($9 million) Nova ($9 million) Alonso ($9 million) Colome ($7.325 million) Santana ($4.3 million) Jay ($4 million) McCann ($2.5 million)
  4. Hahn is likely drooling about his prospects at another top 5 draft pick. What else can he get excited about when his boss won't let him spend like the big boys?
  5. I'm sure they are trying but they won't be successful the majority of the time. As long as you aren't worried about wins and losses, you will have a good time watching the youth develop.
  6. Didn't you also think the Sox were the frontrunners to sign Harper this past offseason? Would he have also been a waste of $300+ million?
  7. I hope not for wins. Individual performances by young players who will be a part of the future is the only thing worth watching.
  8. So how do you think the Sox did on their ~$45 million in spending this past offseason? Herrera ($9 million) Nova ($9 million) Alonso ($9 million) Colome ($7.325 million) Santana ($4.3 million) Jay ($4 million) McCann ($2.5 million)
  9. Yes, cuz they are identical players. Do you ever get tired from carrying around Hahn’s Jock? 😂
  10. Not to a team with legitimate ownership that wants to win. $300 million is the going rate for top free agent players. Go check the Forbes article again.
  11. If you think our Sox front office is going to do this over what is already perfectly set up to happen, let me wake you up from your fantasy right now.
  12. I love how stupid media members float trades that only make sense for their favorite team. Montgomery does zero for the Sox. The Sox would want one of the maybe handful of useful prospects that the Cubs have, not an old in between starter/reliever.
  13. I already acknowledged that the two relievers will be trade bait. The Padres stole two players right from under Hahn’s nose and I think they are feeling just fine with them and in completion.
  14. The relievers are likely here for 2 years max. Machado is 26 and will be 28 in two years. How are you comparing these two situations?
  15. First of all, both Herrera and Colome are solid relievers. They aren’t examples of dumpster diving. The problem is, they may only be here for two years when the Sox aren’t even in competition. One could easily argue that’s Hahn jumped the gun on signing them but they will likely be traded before the Sox are in competition so they have value as trade bait. McCann? Wow, get back to me by the end of the season.
  16. The point remains. I would’ve rather thrown that $18 million towards Machado or Harper than a reliever who may not even be here when the Sox are competing.
  17. Well, Hahn had better start scoring higher than an F at dumpster diving when that is his only free agent strategy.
  18. Indeed. I wasn’t either. You could argue whether signing a top reliever was worth it at this point in the rebuild however.
  19. Bingo. Would’ve been better by far for this year and long-term.
  20. Can’t give the proven player Machado $50 more million guaranteed but will throw away over half that amount on guys we hope will be DFA’ed a month into the season.
  21. Nova ($9 million) Alonso ($9 million) Santana ($4.3 million) Jay ($4 million) It all adds up to BAD. Who would you rather have for $26.3 million? I’m sure there was a better option than this pile of crap.
  22. Fulmer’s stuff looks decent minus that awful changeup. If he can find the plate, he may have a chance to be a reliever.
  23. Will Palka ever get another chance? I think he may get a shot at DH next year to replace Alonso if he tears it up in the minors this year. But he could go the way of Josh Fields.
