Are they even scouting these guys? Seeing him pitch makes me think no. This is ridiculous. The guy is topping off at 90. This is worse than Miguel Gonzalez.

Hahn doesn’t seem to understand that former flamethrowers like Shields and Santana can’t be successful when they are now throwing 90-91.

It was so obvious that Hahn’s acquisitions were trash. Now it’s all being proven out. Most of the $45 million he spent was wasted.

Always remember the money Hahn spent on these bums. $4.3 million for Ervin Santana $9 million for Yonder Alonso $4 million for Jon Jay who isn’t even near playing $17+ million wasted on scrubs. Hahn is terrible.

Shields was older and bad at the time he was acquired. His velocity was already declining. You don’t overpay for pitchers like that.

Just because the Sox are operating on a mid market payroll (or even lower) doesn’t mean that it’s all they can feasibly afford. You must believe every word of BS that Kenny and Hahn spew.

Rondon is earning $4 million less than Yolmer and has some pop. Yolmer could be traded away for a bag of balls and most people wouldn’t care. He isn’t worth much at all no matter how much you like him and his stupid antics.

If your expectation is for him to hit .340, you are a bit insane and unrealistic.

What is wrong with Rondon and his current .766 OPS? Even if he sucks, at least he will do it more cheaply than Yolmer.

I agree with you regarding all the wasted money on these types of players but Yolmer has now become the expensive bench solution at almost $5 million and going up each year.

I posted this in the game thread but it fits here as well... Yolmer Sanchez owns a .653 career OPS. He is making $4.625 million this year and is literally a non-tender candidate next offseason but I expect him to be traded for peanuts before the deadline. The Sox will not miss him. A guy like Jose Rondon makes Yolmer a complete waste of $4 million dollars because he is younger and has more cheap salary arbitration years left. I truly do not understand the love for Yolmer. Is it because his best tool/skill is dumping Gatorade on his own head?!? And when you add all the millions here and there that both Hahn and Kenny like to waste on these mediocre players and veterans, you could afford the extra $50 million guaranteed on a true game-changer like Machado or Harper instead of a scrub like Yolmer that you never want to see up to bat. Hell, Yolmer has been so bad this year that the Sox might have to throw in some cash on any trade for him or accept the worst 25 year old “prospect” that a team offers.
