Why would you even compare Eloy to Tatis? The bigger issue is that the Sox should have both guys right now, not a 5.31 ERA from James freaking Shields in a Sox uniform.

Exactly. We could have both guys right now as cornerstones. For a team that is cheap and won’t spend big money on big free agents, Tatis would have been huge to have right now. Shields was a bum and did absolutely zero for the Sox. He was acquired by Hahn and Kenny in a futile attempt to compete during a mediocre season.

Amazing to see and somewhat ironic. I think most of us expected the pitching to be much better than the lineup going forward but it may be the opposite. Hopefully, Jerry will loosen the purse strings on what is needed going forward.

Hahn thought he was pulling off one of the best signings of all time because he was going to get a quality starter for $1.5 million dollars based on Turner’s draft/prospect status and “Coop’ll Fixem!” But like most of his awful dumpster diving signings, it was a failure.

This makes some sense and adds some reasoning to the story but how did Albies not wonder why he wasn’t getting around Eloy money?

It was nice to hear Mully and Haugh mention this news on The Score this morning and immediately rip the Sox for not spending like a team that has large profits.

I think it was still a good move but the Eaton trade isn’t looking so hot currently. Giolito and Lopez are both struggling and Dunning had TJ surgery. And what did Soria bring in? Medeiros? Big deal. The horrific Shields trade screws Hahn’s overall grade anyways. He gave up a franchise player for a broken down pitcher who put up a 5.31 ERA in 67 starts in a Sox uniform. That’s putrid.

No one gets fired if they are loyal to Jerry (see Kenny, Hahn, Cooper, GarPax).
