  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 04:25 PM) Reds just stole one from the Brewers. John Axford and his horrific looking mustache f***ed up three of my fantasy teams. Go pick up Takashi Saito. I wonder if Trevor Hoffman is rethinking retirement, I'm sure the Brewers will be looking for help if this keeps up
  2. Padres will not win 80 games this year
  3. If you thought the Padres had a weak lineup even with AGon, check it out without him.
  4. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 01:53 PM) The guy could injure himself farting. He just wants to win a 3rd comeback player of the year award. He's already the frontrunner for 2012.
  5. So I opened up MLB GameDay and I saw pretty much the same thing I saw last year. I couldn't figure out why you guys were hyping it up so much. Then I saw the button in the top right to switch from Classic to Game Day. Holy s***, thats f***ing awesome! Way to go MLB.com.
  6. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 30, 2011 -> 05:31 PM) So Thornton was really upset at Hawks players "chirping" at him as he skated to the bench last night and he will "deal with it" next time he sees them. Maybe they thought you got some karma after taking out Hammer's knee huh you douche. John Scott says: "He said that? That's fine. He can say what he wants. He's going after some of our littlest guys on our team to start a fight. He's trying to challenge (Fernando) Pisani to a fight. What's that say about him? "He's Mr. Tough Guy and he's trying to challenge Pisani. If I'm in the lineup, he's more than welcome to come chirp at me. I'll kick the (bleep) out of him."
  7. I thought he already retired a year or two ago? Whatever, thanks for the memories JD, some great seasons on the South Side.
  8. QUOTE (YASNY @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 12:58 PM) And I would have been leading the meltdown. I would have been on the front line with you
  9. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 12:49 PM) Gotta be one of the weaker looking lineups we've seen from the Yanks in a few years. And it's still a top 5 lineup in the league
  10. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 12:34 PM) My point is that certain teams were pegged as contenders or "elite" teams before the tournament started, despite the fact that they never exhibited anything close to that. Duke and UNC were high seeds that were overrated. Again, name me some really good wins from this year to prove that. I think Kentucky, to a certain extent, was also overrated, though they played well enough to get to the Final Four. None of these teams were as great as they were made out to be. So VCU needs to be considered one of the best teams in the country because of their tourney play, but Kentucky is still overrated but just happened to play well enough to get to the Final Four. As a #4 seed.
  11. QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 11:55 AM) Sidenote: Why the hell aren't the Giants opening the season at home!? I think the schedule is released in September, so the home teams on Opening Day were already set before the playoffs even started. I was a big fan of the WS champ hosting a game in primetime the night before Opening Day. I guess it just worked out in past years that the champ was starting the season at home.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 11:44 AM) Not very impressed by the opening day lineups for the Brewers and Reds. Kotsay starting for Milwaukee in RF! Corey Hart is on the DL for the first week or so. It's OK to have Kotsay as a NL bench player & injury replacement, just not an everyday DH.
  13. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 10:36 AM) It is terrible timing because obviously ideally you want an AD to be in place to hire the basketball coach and i don't want Guenther running the search. They should get try to get Jerry Colangelo involved if Weber does take the Oklahoma job and basically let him make the decision on who the next coach is. Gotcha, you meant if Weber did leave now, I think I misread that. Yeah, you definitely don't want an awful lame duck AD hiring the coach. Like I said earlier though, I just don't see Weber leaving on his own. I think he's firmly entrenched in Champaign and is gonna try to stick it out and right the ship. The few jobs he would leave for aren't looking for anyone now. (and might never look in his direction.)
  14. Gonzales saying that Buehrle to start April 6 vs. KC, Humber in the pen for now
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 09:56 AM) His contract is up this summer (I forget the exact date) and President Hogan is not a fan so I would be really surprised to see his contract renewed. I know about the Guenther situation and really hope its not renewed. You said the OU/Weber stuff was terrible timing with Guenther leaving soon. Why is it terrible timing? Do you think Weber is scared to be under another AD? His contract runs for a few more years, so it would be hard to fire him immediately.
  16. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 09:24 AM) Weber would never leave Illinois until he's forced out. I'm convinced of this. I agree with you on this. I guess maybe he would go to Marquette cause its where he's from, but that job isn't opening up anytime soon. Why would he wanna go to Oklahoma? Jeff Capel made the Elite 8 two years ago as a #2 seed, and two sub-.500 seasons later, he's gone already. There's some pressure to win in Norman as well and it's not exactly a basketball powerhouse.
  17. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 01:10 AM) * Downloading music. In the mid-80s I used to hold my "boombox" up to the tv and record music off the video channel. I didn't have cable (wasn't in our area yet), so I think it was channel 60 or 66 that had videos on every day for an hour. Whenever a good song came on the radio, I would record it on to a cassette tape.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 07:31 AM) As down as I am about weber this is freaking terrible timing with Guenther likely out as AD in June or July. How so?
  19. QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 31, 2011 -> 03:12 AM) That's what... three Zeller brothers that played in major division 1 basketball? That's some gene pool. They should battle the three Plumlee brothers at Duke for Indiana cornfield basketball family supremacy!
  20. Ryan Boatright & Chasson Randle tied for first place in Mr. Basketball voting 3rd - Wayne Blackshear 4th - Anthony Davis 5th - David Sobolweski None of the four Illini recruits in the top 5.
  21. QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Mar 14, 2011 -> 09:09 PM) Anyone listen to B&B on the Score? The tournament of bad brackets were announced today. The Japanese housing market is my pick to win it all! http://chicago.cbslocal.com/tournament-of-bad/ QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 15, 2011 -> 10:14 AM) -How is ND Student Safety a 16-seed in the play-in matchup? Way underseeded. It could take out #1 Mike Singletary in the 1st round. Called it. ND Student Safety in the final as a 16-seed, defeating Charlie Sheen's Rehab efforts in the Semis. The other two in the Final 4 are Urinal Conversations vs. Hopping on Lake Shore Drive in the middle of a blizzard
