  1. Ironically, Thomas' top targets in both sports the last time were minorities, and Sumlin and Smart laughed in his face.
  2. This is the only game I ever attended solo. Had a blast.
  3. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 21, 2014 -> 10:28 PM) Can't believe that's her. In a way, I kind of feel bad for her. Not for having to endure all the public scrutiny of her appearance (that's invited and goes with the territory), but how messed up inside does she and the Bruce Jenners, Kenny Rogers, Michael Jacksons, etc., have to be do that to themselves?
  4. Foos at Wrigley 8/29/15. Anyone seen a concert there? Is it any worse than any other outdoor stadium? I suppose the new video board can only help.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 22, 2014 -> 08:54 AM) Shields has cost himself some money this postseason. He will have about 250 innings pitched this season including the playoffs. Someone is going to pay him, but there are some warning signs. This makes total sense, but I disagree. Logic and reason tend to get ignored in free agency, especially with top of the rotation starters. He will still get paid, and very likely overpaid, by a team that will come to regret it.
  6. So the Royals' season was almost derailed by "Clash of Clans." http://www.si.com/extra-mustard/2014/10/21...-game-addiction I can so relate.
  7. This is the 'red headed stepchild' of ROY awards, right? The one that Beckham also won? The "real" one is given by the writers, no?
  8. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Oct 17, 2014 -> 03:14 PM) I've never been there, but I was once told that any of the cities with a direction in front of Chicago were bad news. Apart from being boring, I can't think of anything bad about West Chicago.
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 16, 2014 -> 07:43 AM) Joey should publish a newsletter. I'd be on that s***.
  10. This entire postseason has been terrific. KC looks fated to win it. Royals in 6.
  11. The ND announcements are coming out. Devaris Daniels is apparently leaving the school. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/colle...1014-story.html Twitter says Williams done at least for year.
  12. A senior from my alma mater broke his spine Friday night. He's had two surgeries already. Please keep him in your thoughts and (if you're so inclined) prayers.
  13. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Oct 10, 2014 -> 02:31 PM) you know what i found interesting, B&B read off the Pro Football Reference list of players most similar to Cutler, and George wasnt one of them. I see the comparison as well, which is why i found it interesting Because I think the comparison is based mostly on intangibles, not quantifiable stats (i.e., they're both whiny d-bags with million dollar arms and 10 cent heads).
  14. Taking on the Chicago Marathon this Sunday. It's been 17 years since I've done one, and I'm fighting nerves and doubts. Thankfully, the forecast looks ideal.
  15. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 09:53 AM) http://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-colum...cle2535406.html http://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-colum...cle2532687.html After celebrating their sweep of the Angels in the locker room at Kauffman Stadium, some Royals players took the party to McFadden’s in the Power & Light District. They got on Twitter to invite fans to join them. KC you guys showed us so much love all year were returning the favor for you guys tonight at @McFaddensKC #allonebigfamily see.u all there — Eric Hosmer (@TheRealHos35) October 6, 2014 According some of the people there, Eric Hosmer pulled out his credit card and helped pay for an open bar for an hour. He spent $3,000 and his teammates shared a $12,000 tab, according to a Royals official. Eric Hosmer just paid for the entire bar's drinks for the next hour. Easily 500 people here. That ain't cheap. — nick wright (@getnickwright) October 6, 2014 The players mingled among the crowd of people there and posed for a bunch of pictures. This is Greg Holland, in the middle of #Royals party at McFadden's, totally mesmerized by the game highlights on ESPN pic.twitter.com/S92XiPXi7R — nick wright (@getnickwright) October 6, 2014 Got to McFadden's right when the Royals did and got ushered into their VIP section by accident. So, this happened pic.twitter.com/YvXqw9cf4D — nick wright (@getnickwright) October 6, 2014 #KC all your KC #Royals are here at McFadden's! Where are you?! pic.twitter.com/ZDuUmAsnH2 — McFadden's KC (@McFaddensKC) October 6, 2014 Read more here: http://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-colum...l#storylink=cpy Very cool. Good for them.

    QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 12:52 PM) Yup. I suspend disbelief when watching this show, I'm not expecting it to be realistic. I thought the 3rd episode was just as good as the first two. Next week looks fun as well. I caught it last night and agree. It seems to be striking just the right tone, so far.
  17. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 11:19 AM) Literally? We've just found you two who don't claim that stuff. All hail Mizzou fans, though. I'd like to think I don't do that either, but I'll concede that many do. As someone pointed out, I think a lot of it has to do with what we grew up hearing about in the bad 'ol days of the Public League.
  18. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 10:10 AM) Well the NCAA busted them for Darnell Jackson/JR Giddens for getting paid, not having a compliance compartment, Darrell Arthur for never graduating high school, lack of institutional control/more paying recruits, tons of other violations, that ticket scandal, among a bunch of other things that I don't remember. That's all true, but the NCAA has been busting Kansas for decades, and several items you cite (lack of compliance dept., institutional control) speak to much more than the coach. I'm not trying to suggest that Self is holier than thou, but I think if he was "insanely dirty" relative to other top coaches, that would have been better established by now (and by more than a rival school's fan site). I might be just naive.
  19. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 09:34 AM) You've never heard anyone say Kansas is dirty? I mean if he's doing it there it just makes sense he was doing it at Illinois. I certainly agree with your last point, but I have never heard any serious suggestions that Self, specifically, is insanely dirty.
  20. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Oct 8, 2014 -> 09:21 AM) Is it wrong to think he was insanely dirty at both? Probably. I've never heard anything to seriously suggest that.
  21. I remember being so optimistic heading into that decade. I remember discussing with my buddies how the Sox were set up to be "the team of the 90's." (sigh). On the bright side, the Sox only won 1 less WS that decade than the Atlanta Braves.
  22. I haven't seen anyone mention MSU's Pat Narduzzi for Illinois. He turned down UConn last year; A Big 10 job would be better than that gig, but as arguably the conference's top asst. I seriously wonder if Illinois would be attractive to him.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 7, 2014 -> 10:46 AM) Is Illinois really that big of a step up from Memphis in football? Ouch. Green?
  24. QUOTE (farmteam @ Oct 6, 2014 -> 09:48 AM) I passed the bar! Congrats!
