  1. Past hour
  2. That's nothing. Let me tell you about Chris Getz's greatest sins and we'll go on a 3-page detour about Cam Booser for Fajardo.
  3. There were trade rumors that the Cubs were looking to improve their offense and 3B was an obvious position to improve. They had Shaw, Jon Berti, and old man Justin Turner and none of them were hitting in the first half. Eugenio Suarez was the supposed target. However, Shaw started hitting better toward the trade deadline and Suarez’s cost was likely deemed too high.
  4. Can I just say one of the most interesting things about Soxtalk is how a thread about signing Jared Kelenic can just easily morph into a thread about Matt Shaw.....miss a little, miss alot.
  5. Yep, I just agreed with that notion regarding the rumor about him not listening to the Cubs staff involving suggested mechanical changes by the Cubs staff.
  6. There were a ton of rumors out there about him being in various trades at the deadline to improve 3B. Enough so that Bruce asked him about it. And not only were they looking to improve the position he played, they were talking about him in trades to do it.
  7. That’s Law’s own narrative on the absence, not the team’s, or his teammates’. However, the “resistance to help from the Cubs’ staff” is a good argument.
  8. Then again, it is Bruce Levine. He very well could just post something like that today....it's not like Mr. Baseball ever says much of substance
  9. I’m not disagreeing with you. But I don’t agree with SS2K5’s post that the Cubs have been trying to get rid of him since he got there.
  10. I guess we are going to do the Shaw thing again, but even the "excused absence" thing isn't it. https://www.chicitysports.com/chicago-cubs-matt-shaw-trade-alex-bregman-nico-hoerner
  11. Anything I've read about Shaw since Bregman's signing is that the Cubs see him as a super-utility dude. He's their top prospect. Of course the Cubs would want a s%*#-ton back in trade for him. What do you think the Sox would want for Colson Montgomery?
  12. Kelenic seems immature, and maybe even a little on the spectrum, or at least inarticulate. Yes, I'm goofing on him for judging the Sox as a team that "knows how to win" when I can't imagine how he knows this, or what that even means. Otherwise, I hope he pulls it together and rakes here. I have no praise for Shaw.
  13. Is this a fact? When I suggested acquiring Shaw, I was told he wasn’t necessarily available via trade and the Sox would have to pay too much in talent to acquire him in the now closed thread.
  14. As far as I know, Shaw got permission from his team to miss a game to attend a memorial service, and he also discussed it with some of his teammates. Regarding Kelenic, I never said that he was a completely awful teammate but I did see more incidents that could potentially associate him with that status than with Shaw. I am too lazy to find links for everything so here is what Google AI spit out…
  15. Love when the photo of the signee is of him in basketball shorts and a t-shirt. (I have no idea who this guy is and for all I know he could turn out great)
  16. Who even the Cubs have been trying to get rid of since he got there.
  17. Why though? You already have a guy who HAS that, and instead would bet on a dude who has never had it? Mead is 24 and with over 500 MLB PAs and over 1700 MiLB ones. Lenyn is one year older.
  18. That‘s in game power. Lenyn maximizes his slightly above average raw power about as good as anyone. Mead has similar or maybe better raw power, but hasn’t been able to translate to in game. Whether he can with more reps is a TBD.
  19. True, but I would also be surprised if ~50 or so at bats in ST will dictate his entire future with the team. I think it will be how well he works with Sox hitting coaches this ST or if he is deemed disagreeable or uncoachable.
  20. I love how you of all people continue to s%*# on Kelenic cuz of a comment he made and bring up "good culture in the clubhouse" yet continue to praise Matt Shaw.
  21. He has 5 HRs in about a seasons worth of MLB ABs. Lenyn just put up 22 in almost the same amount of PAs that it took Mead to hit 5. The most he even hit an MiLB season was 15.
