And we don't miss second place all that much either :bang

I'm not saying that.

But I took it as people making it seem like Melvin got raped in the deal -- and he didn't. Trade worked out for both clubs. Getting Lee's money off the books allowed us to get El Duque + AJ + Iguchi (or a combo of two out of the three), along with Pods.

But Milwaukee still has a damn good leadoff man (Clark posting a .316/.378/.428 line), along with an OF'er who's currently posting an .856 OPS.

With both MIL and the Sox being in the southern league, they should be well aware of each others talent in AA and those who went onto AAA that played in Huntsville and Birmingham.

And checking the Brewers minor league rosters and stats, they don't have anyone decent at 3b in AA or AAA.

They have Bill Hall. He can play 3rd.

Not only does a deal for Overbay make sense for this year, it makes sense for next year as well. It tells us PK is all but gone, unless they're planning on moving him to DH which I highly doubt.

A package of Fields, McCarthy and maybe a Ross Gload or PTBNL?

Who said Melvin got raped in the deal?? I think it's of overwhelming opinion that the deal worked out fantastic for both teams.

By the way, I swear to god this is true, last night I had a dream about acquiring Overbay and yes I know that's sad.

Actually, not sad. Very...........uum, happy. Hopefully, you have deja vu and this deal goes through.

I can't imagine why the sox would be interested in doing this deal but if someone is going to do something stupid it's Kenny Williams. McCarthy is "struggling" as a 22 yr old in AAA to the tune of 94 K's and 24 BB in 78 1/3 innings. He does have a 5.17 ERA but it appears he is pitching much better than his ERA would suggest. I'd throw in Okha or Santos to make this deal happen actually.

Just think of what a rotation of Sheets, Davis, Cappy, McCarthy, and Eveland could do next year. That could be the best staff in the NL.

There's nothing right about this quote from some guy on a Brewers board.

Appearantly KW is dumb, which is not true and appearantly McCarthy would be a part of the best rotation in the NL next year if he were traded for Overbay.

The Brewers fans seem to want McCarthy and Anderson for Overbay.
