July 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:10 PM) I don't think we could just froget about Carl like that. He has not hurt us. Carl would get plenty of ABs. He'd be able to rotate with Pods, Rowand, Dye, Konerko, and Overbay...
July 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 04:12 PM) are you saying KW got ripped off? if you are, your dead wrong No no no. I am using this as a counter point to his argument of "Melvin would rape KW"
July 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 08:19 PM) And we don't miss second place all that much either I'm not saying that. But I took it as people making it seem like Melvin got raped in the deal -- and he didn't. Trade worked out for both clubs. Getting Lee's money off the books allowed us to get El Duque + AJ + Iguchi (or a combo of two out of the three), along with Pods. But Milwaukee still has a damn good leadoff man (Clark posting a .316/.378/.428 line), along with an OF'er who's currently posting an .856 OPS.
July 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:10 PM) With both MIL and the Sox being in the southern league, they should be well aware of each others talent in AA and those who went onto AAA that played in Huntsville and Birmingham. And checking the Brewers minor league rosters and stats, they don't have anyone decent at 3b in AA or AAA. They have Bill Hall. He can play 3rd.
July 26, 200520 yr Not only does a deal for Overbay make sense for this year, it makes sense for next year as well. It tells us PK is all but gone, unless they're planning on moving him to DH which I highly doubt. A package of Fields, McCarthy and maybe a Ross Gload or PTBNL?
July 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:22 PM) I'm not saying that. But I took it as people making it seem like Melvin got raped in the deal -- and he didn't. I think it's of overwhelming opinion that the deal worked out fantastic for both teams.
July 26, 200520 yr I like the sound of this deal. Overbay could take over for next year when Konerko becomes a free agent, that way we can sign Garland to a long term deal. Get it done KW. CWSOX45
July 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 01:25 PM) Maybe they'll toss in Sheets.. Or Wes Helms.
July 26, 200520 yr By the way, I swear to god this is true, last night I had a dream about acquiring Overbay and yes I know that's sad.
July 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) By the way, I swear to god this is true, last night I had a dream about acquiring Overbay and yes I know that's sad. Actually, not sad. Very...........uum, happy. Hopefully, you have deja vu and this deal goes through.
July 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:40 PM) By the way, I swear to god this is true, last night I had a dream about acquiring Overbay and yes I know that's sad. :headshake You're pathetic.
July 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:42 PM) I know. Well, atleast you know. That's a start.
July 26, 200520 yr Overbay will be a great addition. Looking at how the Clee/Pods trade work out for both team, may be a good trade relationship will developed b/w the sox and brewers.
July 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 02:44 PM) i'm pretty sure your the first person on earth to have a dream about lyle overbay LOL. I don't know where the hell it came from. It was all jumbled up with some weird s*** going on and all the sudden the Sox acquired Overbay Meh, whatever, I'm a mess, that is all.
July 26, 200520 yr Would the Brewers want Lowell? At a salary that Florida and the Sox are paying part of? I'd love to see KW's plans.
July 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:55 PM) 2nd......................... why don't you people be normal and dream about hawk like everyone else? Edited July 26, 200520 yr by Soxnbears01
July 26, 200520 yr Score (George Offman) just reported that the Brewers INSIST that they will not be trading Overbay.
July 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(southsideirish @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 04:03 PM) Score (George Offman) just reported that the Brewers INSIST that they will not be trading Overbay. Insert the "woaaah woaaaah woaaaaah" music now.
July 26, 200520 yr QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 03:07 PM) http://p092.ezboard.com/fbrewersfandemoniu...tart=21&stop=37 Link the to the Brewers fan site about the trade. Ha, Brewers fans seem to think that's the kiss of death from Melvin.
July 26, 200520 yr I can't imagine why the sox would be interested in doing this deal but if someone is going to do something stupid it's Kenny Williams. McCarthy is "struggling" as a 22 yr old in AAA to the tune of 94 K's and 24 BB in 78 1/3 innings. He does have a 5.17 ERA but it appears he is pitching much better than his ERA would suggest. I'd throw in Okha or Santos to make this deal happen actually. Just think of what a rotation of Sheets, Davis, Cappy, McCarthy, and Eveland could do next year. That could be the best staff in the NL. There's nothing right about this quote from some guy on a Brewers board. Appearantly KW is dumb, which is not true and appearantly McCarthy would be a part of the best rotation in the NL next year if he were traded for Overbay. The Brewers fans seem to want McCarthy and Anderson for Overbay.
July 26, 200520 yr Overbay for Sean Tracey and Neil Cotts? That would be doable. Or for Cotts and Chris Young? Hmmm... Aha, ahaha, BWAHAHAAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!
July 26, 200520 yr Hey Brewer fan here, just thought I'd post a link to another Brewers message board that's discussing this trade. LINK
July 26, 200520 yr Any other Brewers the Sox could be scouting and the media has assumed it is Overbay?
