ESPN radio 1000 just reported the Sox signed him 2 yrs 9 mill.

I was just watching Mike & Mike in the morning on ESPNNEWS and they said the Sox signed dye for 2 years 9 million dollars. I like the move he shoule be able to fill Maggs shoes rather nicely.

Time for some merging and pinning. And here were my thoughts copied from the rumors thread;

 

Considering we were going to get him for 3 years $15 mil, we haven't done too badly out of this I guess. If it's true, I'd assume he's making 4 mill in 2004, which will bring payroll up to about $69 mil.

As long as Dye is healthy I think this is a very solid move.

I dont see anywhere that we sign Dye to a contract

The Sox are really looking at having a potentially deep bench after they sign one more middle infielder/utility man type player.

If KW gets Odalis Perez for 5 or 6 million and can convince one of Cairo or Polanco to sign, he'll have done his job this offseason. But it's more likely that Konerko is traded and maybe Garland and we end up with Javier Vazquez, depending if the Yanks and D-Backs can agree on something.

Tom Shear (sp?) said that it is "looking good" for the Sox.

I like the signing quite a bit. So far the only deal this offseason that I consider signed a "fair market" deal.

LMAO. It was DONE dammit. Now ESPN 1000 will get sued by the players union for tampering when he's joining the Rangers.

Jermaine Dye is one of the single most gifted outfielders on the market. With Dye in right field the Sox will have the best outfield in the AL Central to go along with the Best pitching. The Sox have very quietly been filling their holes this off season, I can't think of any team that has done as much as the Sox to better themselves in the long run. AL Pennant here we come!

Mike and Mike said ir was reported it was done and I have heard nuttin from chicago. I bet it will get done today.
