EvilJester99
Oh great now that the media is involved someone will swoop in the last second and steal Dye away...
AnthraxFan93
Jermaine Dye is one of the single most gifted outfielders on the market. With Dye in right field the Sox will have the best outfield in the AL Central to go along with the Best pitching. The Sox have very quietly been filling their holes this off season, I can't think of any team that has done as much as the Sox to better themselves in the long run. AL Pennant here we come! Yeah thats what we thought in 2001 02 03 04, why should this year be any different :rolly Nothing like having a cheap replacement, that the JR way
Wise Master Buehrle
If we don't end up with Jermaine Dye after all this, I'm gonna be one pissed off Sox fan.
greasywheels121
Some reason I've always liked Dye; it's kind of nice having him in a ChiSox uni. Good move, and really not that expensive.
Hatchetman
that's a fair offer. if texas offers a third year, let him go. i was just going to say he's jurassic with better knees, so i looked at his career comps and found: Similar Batters Carl Everett (946) Glenallen Hill (940) Troy O'Leary (936) Sixto Lezcano (935) Don Demeter (934) Mike Marshall (934) Jim Ray Hart (933) Larry Hisle (933) Jose Cruz Jr. (928) Mel Hall (926) magglio>>>>>>>dye>>>>>>>>>>>>borchard
greasywheels121
s***, and now I read the thread. This is going to be a huge let down if we lose another one this close.

Butter Parque
Love th signing, I was thinking 3.5 million per year but who cares, if healthy, Jermain Dye would light the cell on fire!!!
AnthraxFan93
If we don't end up with Jermaine Dye after all this, I'm gonna be one pissed off Sox fan. For a guy who only played more than 140 games in a season once in the past 3 years you be pissed if we didn't get him???
KevHead0881
This all depends on his health, and for the moment, he is at least healthier than Maggs. For now, I am very satisfied with this (supposed) move. If he stays healthy, he can make up a good portion of Maggs stats. And it's not like we spent a lot of money here. This still leaves us enough room to go after a SS and/or SP.
KevHead0881
For a guy who only played more than 140 games in a season once in the past 3 years you be pissed if we didn't get him??? Well, Maggs has only played over 60 games twice over the last three years, so whats the difference?

Guest JimH
Done deal, Jermaine Dye is a White Sox. $4M for 2005, $5 M for 2006, a team option for 2007 at a slightly higher number, and a buyout amount for 2007. Not my first choice, but not a bad signing at that price.

The disciple of Cubkilla speaks.... Dye will be a sufficient replacement for Maggs... but wont be able to replace him... at any cost I think this guy is a gamer and will bring alot to the table for us. Harry Chappas
If Everett, Dye and Thomas give us 108 games each we have a solid nucleus with the three. This is a nice solid pick-up nothing earth shattering but imagine if we get Edgar. The bad news we are not looking for a 5th starter Grilli and Schoenweis are the options. I guess a healty Schoenweis.
MurcieOne
I had the fear of Dave McGinnis in me for a little while Does that mean if we dont get Dye.... we sign Dick Jauron....omg atleast he'd be really upbeat when we started losing...
