    40 years of being cheap is not negated by signing Dallas Keuchel and Grandal to $50MM or $70MM contracts. That's like the going rate for normal players.

    In the grand scheme of things this doesn't make the list of top 50 dumbest things JR has done as an owner, so I have a hard time getting super worked up about it.

    Today he sounded about the same as he always did. Parkins was complaining he wasn't fired up. LaRussa has never been fired up unless he's yelling at an umpire.

    It seems like a horrible idea on the surface but who knows. Would make the hot stove league more interesting. the guy has managed 5000 games, probably many in a subconscious state, so he might be OK.
