I do not understand the Giolito hate at all.

I don't want to speak for the other poster you quoted. But someone predicting that 2 players who were better than Giolito in 22 will be better than him again in 23 isn't really hate or even going that far out on a limb.

Jack McDowell was the union reps in 1994. They got rid of him as quickly as possible.

Seeing how the rest of his career played out, that was a good decision . And he probably cost the Sox a World Series title in 93 with his God awful performance against Toronto.

It might be but I'm trying to hit two birds with one stone where the value is semi realistic.

If our budget is 180m that's going to be very difficult and will require alot of manuevering. Maybe after they get a young C like Campusano in a trade like that, they could then package Grandal with some prospects not named Colas or Montgomery to open up some cash.

More likely they'll need to sell Hendriks.

I think Anderson needs to be moved while he still has 2 years of cheap control. They seem to really believe Montgomery is a SS so all you need is like a one year bridge.

If we had a serious big market owner, the move to make would be moving Anderson to RF and then signing one of the big name shortstops. But we have Jerry.

Right now the Sox according to Vegas are the 11th team in line picked to win the World Series. It might get worse during the off season. We need like 8 different key guys to rebound or show improvement health and statistics wise without the others falling off a cliff too.

A lot of guys are coming off career worst years or close to it, whether by performance, health or both. Some won't improve. I think some will. If it exceeds a logically expected outcome, some real good things can happen here.

I also think the removal of Menechino and La Russa will be a big boost.

As bad as last year felt in so many different ways, they still were a .500 team. Every year we see teams make a big jump. The Sox don't even have that big of a jump to make. They're already a .500 team when pretty much everything under the sun went wrong (except Cease).

Again, I'm not saying it's likely. But it's not even likely for the favorite. This team absolutely can win the World Series.

I'm not expecting anything. The team isn't going to win a World Series anyway next year.  And they aren't going to pay for Bellinger.

There is expect and there is hope.

But I have more faith into adding younger, faster, better defensive, cheaper players who hit for power than I do in rolling out the same garbage in the OF because the new rules are pointing us in that direction and only a fool ignores those things.

People act like it's a sin around here to mention other teams prospects who have skills. Just because I'm sticking my neck out doesn't mean I'm right or wrong. Our old pal Jimmy thought it would also be prudent to try to get Garrett. To me its all about the skill set of these guys. The fact that Outman isnt a top 100 prospect makes the chances of getting him better. Sue me if I want younger power hitters who can field and run and aren't ranked.  I can't ignore the numbers they put up in AAA and their small but very good sample sizes in the majors.

I've seen you say this at least twice in this thread. You should know better than to say that. I'm not saying it's likely. But if a couple of these rebuild guys finally get their s%*# together and blow up, this team could be world beaters.

Or they may not or think they can be competitive with a plan like mine 3 young OF all ready to play in the Majors. 2 of them being LH all with power and defense. Spend what little money you have on pitching and trade Hendriks in an Outman deal.

Go to war with a young speedy powerful OF while adding 2 LHH lots of defense and lots of power. And best of all young bashers who can become core pieces quickly.

I'm not an expert on Dodger prospects, but isn't Outman considered more of a potential bench or platoon player.... than a guy we would trade one of the top closers in baseball for?

That is the lane I picked, but that's not the lane the Sox are going to pick. They're going to try to be as competitive as possible.

Eh, as competitive as possible, while slashing payroll to satisfy Reinsdorf's bank account.

So anyone accused of anything shouldn't be able to work. Got it.

If you ever read the story you will see where there are some cracks. Her friend who she swapped Darling and Cone on the same night sort of remained neutral. She did give DBo and Vince Coleman kisses goodbye when she left. Could be a coping mechanism,  could be someone got a bit overserved and did something they regretted. I don't know. But to say Boston is a bad guy without really knowing what happened is a reach. I am all for victims rights. But these guys weren't charged and yet many are  disgusted Daryl Boston has anything to do with the White Sox.  That's crazy to me.

Forget the rape accusations if you will. But with the well known lackadaisical culture of the team last year, any coach that didn't prove themselves to be superb at their job (like Ethan Katz for example), by default should not return in my opinion.

Jeff Torborg told me the 87-90 uniforms were the idea of JR, he loved the "Dodger script." Jeff said when he became manager he started working on JR to get him to change them' that only the Dodgers could pull off that look.

Interesting and it makes sense since Reinsdorf grew up a Brooklyn Dodgers fan. Too bad he didn't buy the Dodgers instead of the Sox.

  10. I like #3 a lot, both light and dark. That goes back to me being real young kid and becoming a Sox fan.

The 83's I like a lot more now, than I did back then. We used to call them the license plate jerseys. But as others have said, they've been overdone and its probably time to retire them for a decade or two.

The 87-90's are the worst of the bunch. Just a terribly generic uniform.

Sox have become a hard team to root for. Chicagoans are hearty fans and can tolerate many things but a lack of intensity, especially by an otherwise talented bunch, is a huge turn-off. I'm not saying its systemic or there aren't players who really care but there are a handful of guys, specifically position players, who jut seem apathetic and, unfortuately we have locked them into big contracts, for which they now seem content .

It's really weird how 3 years ago - we were on the cusp of the most entertaining White Sox team since the Black Sox. And now we have our hands full with one of the least watchable White Sox teams in history.

I still wonder if the Sox will be in Chicago past this decade.

Even though I think Grandpa Ricketts is a turd, the Cubs are actually run like a competent, large market team.

The Sox are going to start bleeding fans whether to apathy or jumping ship.

If I had a kid I wouldn't want them to be a Sox fan.

As long as some absurdly rich billionaire that wants a team in his own city doesn't buy them.... A smart businessman would recognize the untapped goldmine that is the White sox. But it likely resides in the suburbs eventually.

I doubt it was one incident given how Cleveland reacted. Probably just one incident we knew about.

Clevinger was getting to that point where Cleveland trades their starters. He was about to get paid. The timing probably worked out fine for them.

I think it's a toss-up and it's really about where he is physically. Can he hit 95-96 mph regularly again? If not, his ceiling is a lot lower. I trust that he'll put in the work, but I don't know if his body will cooperate.

That being said, what pitcher on the market for 1/$10-11M has as much upside as Giolito?

Idk. It just seems like they're going to trade him for whatever they can asap and grab two of Clevinger/ Quintana/Manaea

Clevinger has as much upside as Giolito. Not sure you can get him for 10 mil though.

And the Covid/Plesac thing is one incident. My God we all make mistakes in life. I haven't heard of anything else negative with him.

Yeah, because it doesn't make sense to trade him after the season he just had and it seems they're dead set on doing so.

I'm not as confident as most of you guys that Giolito will bounce back. But yeah, you hope they don't just give him away, especially if they are in cheapskate mode this winter - which all indications point to being true.

I could definitely see him taking 2/20 with an opt out after 1 but the White Sox insisted they don’t do opt outs last time it came up.

I think he'll get more. You have a possible TOR guy if he shakes off the TJ. Someone will bite on that for more than #5 starter money.
