  1. Martin Perez next up vs. The Guardians tomorrow.
  2. Sun-Times post-game notes: Clean starts for White Sox' prized lefty prospects Noah Schultz, Hagen Smith - Chicago Sun-Times
  3. At least there's no no-hit or perfect game drama today.
  4. Kinda shitty to interview Noah's dad during his one inning. Let the guy watch.
  5. Korey Lee showing Vargas how it's done.
  6. I'd like to see Burke be able to put Gonzalez away, there. Two hard hit balls.
  7. You don't think that baseball has a lot more fundamentals tied to the existence of bases that require extensive drilling? And that hitting is the hardest endeavor in all of sports?
  8. And while they're probably schlubs who are only delaying their next careers, curious to see if Alec Makarewicz and Lyle Miller-Green are actual hitters, or just college wonders.
  9. The Sox are also stock-piling OFs in A-ball. Zavala, Wolkow and Casey Saucke at Winston-Salem, and Montgomery, McLain, McConnell and McCants at Kanny. Looking for a breakout or two.
  10. I believe he listed out people who will "make starts" this year. Thorpe will probably start the season on rehab. There will be double-headers. There will be trades. There will be injuries and fatigue. I'd say 13-14 pitchers made "starts" for the Sox last year. (non-bullpen games)
  11. Okay, there you go. Fletcher homer. Screw Canario.
  12. Perhaps he made up an example that was indicative of the complaints so as not to single out a person for their inane BS.
  13. That said, I'm going to proclaim Getz's brilliance in acquiring Teel based on that one simulated game homer off of Sasaki today. More of that, please.
  14. I think Cali is defending Venable for his answer, and then asking who else should get PAs at 3rd. He doesn't seem to be saying to cut Vargas.
  15. But hey, 121 losses happened, and my referencing that elevates anything I suggest to Einsteinian levels of brilliance.
  16. And maybe they feel they're not a good fit for a guy with his profile. Do we have confidence that the Sox can fix a guy who strikes out at a 40% rate, yet? Nobody's really taking Tim Elko seriously as a major league hitter.
  17. MLBTR chat counterpoint: I think he's interesting. Again, 28 other teams took a pass.
  18. Actually, they were meaningless last year, too. That's why they don't count them. Don't confuse correlation with causation.
  19. Almost makes one realize that spring training wins and losses are meaningless.
  20. Or maybe they see Canario as a AAAA outfielder who is out of options, and isn't a sure bet to hit in the bigs. Not every player the White Sox pass on is a sure fire Hall-of-Famer. It sure is fun to pretend, though.
  21. Baseball players understand how options and all work. It's fanciful to pretend that a 26 man roster is "the best 26 men available", when in fact, there's guys you don't want to lose because they're out of options, signed a major league deal, etc. If a rookie doesn't understand that, and decided he's going to give up because somebody else got an opportunity he thought should have been his, he probably would fail after the first bad strike call on him.
