40 man and rule 5 deadline on Tuesday
I'm guessing only Mena and Eder. Veras might last as a DH, and I think Thompson would get rocked, even in planned usage.

40 man and rule 5 deadline on Tuesday
There was a season under Schueler, when the Sox grabbed a half dozen Rule 5 guys to sort through in Spring Training, and Jerry had quite the problem with paying the $50k fee on each player. He shut down that practice, going forward.

40 man and rule 5 deadline on Tuesday
The problem comes in starting Carela's clock a year or two too early. Wilfred Veras is probably just too far away from the bigs to stow on the 26-man roster all season. I'd also think the Sox would like to keep the 40-man lean and mean, not only for the Rule 5, but also to be grabbing up relievers other teams are trying to slip through waivers.

Cease To Padres per Passan
On july 31, 2024, the Sox will owe Moncada $13 million, yet. Unless he's having a truly historic, breakout season, he's dead weight.

This Day In Sox History...November 11
It was weird that the Wheaties box only had Buehrle, instead of the team.

White Sox Minor leaguers choosing free agency
That was my thought. Xavier Fernandez is a C/1B who hits. He had the Yermin lane all to himself. It's probably just a formality for all of these guys.

GM Meetings Thread: MLB Rumors and Elaborate Boras Metaphors
I'm guessing that other GM's don't spend their time listening to 29 other sports radio shows to see if another GM tips his hand by giving an honest assessment of how their team is put together. If one of us can sit down and break down the Sox' outfield, any other GM has 20 times the information we have, and a team to evaluate the player they have interest in.

GM Meetings Thread: MLB Rumors and Elaborate Boras Metaphors
He didn't do that. To say a club's "too right-handed", or doesn't have enough power, you're not talking down your trade chips. And it's not like you're going to call Gavin Sheets a potential MVP, and 29 dum-dums will line up to trade their top two prospects for him.

GM Meetings Thread: MLB Rumors and Elaborate Boras Metaphors
Crawford is #77, Miller is #90 on MLB's top 100 prospects list.

Benetti to Tigers
I sure don't want to enjoy winning.

Current Mood
I think by that time, the Cubs were clearing out their classis 60's lineup. Beckert, Santo, Williams, Hundley, Jenkins, Kessinger, Banks retired, they traded Kenny Holtzman, for reasons. It was a good time to jump ship.

Maybe he replaces the concept of Andrew Vaughn?

GM Meetings Thread: MLB Rumors and Elaborate Boras Metaphors
I have no idea who this guy is. But I'm starved for anybody to start naming names.

GM Meetings Thread: MLB Rumors and Elaborate Boras Metaphors
I'm not sure what Gurriel would do. Play 2nd? Does this portend an Eloy trade?

White Sox Minor leaguers choosing free agency
Laz Rivera and Luis Mieses are two long time Sox prospects who never put it together. Victor Reyes would have been better than Colas or Sheets.

GM Meetings Thread: MLB Rumors and Elaborate Boras Metaphors
I sure don't think Bellinger is worth an Aaron Judge deal, or even a Bryce Harper deal. He fell off a cliff for a couple of years with the Dodgers.

Getz speaks at GM meetings...
You're probably even grabbing a bullpen arm or 2 WAR OF with 3-4 years of control in that package. A team would literally have to send their top 2 prospects, and 2-3 more from their top 10.

Getz speaks at GM meetings...
Moncada still has that $5 million buyout for '25.

Getz speaks at GM meetings...
I find no problem with his remarks. Imagine going to a play, and the actors have to stop every 6 lines, and do interviews. He's got to say something.

Marcus Thames named Hitting Coach
The most important job of batting coach, from my recollection, is to have the balls to smash the PlayStation in the clubhouse with a baseball bat, and chase the hitters into the batting cages. If Marcus can do that, he's aces.

Mike Clevinger declines player option.
Why would giving him a chance to pitch on a competitive team in the pennant run stretch be a reason for him to be angry? I get that every single event must be couched in the most anti-White Sox theories imaginable. He kept his head down (most of the time), and just pitched. I can see someone taking a flier on a strong #3-4 rotation arm.

Marcus Thames named Hitting Coach
We all wanted the Sox to go outside the organization, they went outside the organization. We screamed about Royal connections, they're signing coaches without Royal connections. It all seems like a plan. edit - and once Thames left the Yankees after 2022, their hitting fell off a cliff. I like it.

State of the Sox: Obvious to Everyone
They're clearly in a rebuild. I'm not saddened by Getz's moves, so far. Pretty much everyone is expecting Getz to grab 2-3 bounce back candidates, and load up AAA for the rotation. We're already settling for Andrus as our SS, and letting it ride with Lenyn Sosa at 2B. I'm actually curious for the first time in a couple of years what path the Sox are going to take. Blow it up, or patch in a couple of rookies who failed in their 1st or 2nd tries?
