  1. I don’t think we’ll look to free agency for a starting pitcher. I think we’ll land a nice starting pitcher via trade at the deadline this year or next offseason.
  2. I don't know how many lefties we will face, but I think we will win 123 out of the 125 games started by a righty. You might be thinking, "Wait a minute, if you know how many times we will face a righty, then you know how many times we will face a lefty". But I'm not sure how many ambidextrous starters we will face.
  3. I’d rather have Lynn and Rodon than Odorizzi and Dunning.
  4. Agreed. He also knew (for the first time in his career) that he didn’t have to carry the load on offense. His approach was noticeably different, swinging at less pitches out of the zone.
  5. Good stuff. Thanks, James and Mike. I can’t wait to see how our prospects do this year. This will be the first time in forever where we can excitedly follow the minor league guys while also rooting for a playoff caliber team in the big leagues. Should be a fun year.
  6. Of course each individual try is still 25% no matter how many times you do it. But if you do it twice, you have a 43.75% of succeeding on at least one of the two independent tries.
  7. If you do something twice that has a 25% chance of success, you have only a 43.75% of succeeding at least once. Not quite 50%.
  8. Yeah, with the percentages he presented, there would be a 62.2% chance that at least one of them hits.
  9. It’s the nature of message boards. I don’t think it’ll ever change, regardless of the team or sport. I agree with you, by the way.
  10. How good can he be if Mazara hit a home run off of him in 2020? Can't wait to rock him in the World Series.
  11. I’d say Leury Garcia is pretty darn close to what you are describing.
  12. I'm not really sure how to answer that. This is a message board where fans discuss things. Are you saying that if we find out we did have an offer out to Bauer but it wasn't enough, we shouldn't post that information here? Or when we found out Joc turned down our original offer...should we not have discussed that here because it didn't matter at that point?
  13. Do you think we haven't even discussed a creative offer with him?
  14. I'd be more worried about not sticking to the plan if our bullpen wasn't so stacked. No reason to use him in high leverage situations all the time when you have the horses we have in the pen.
  15. His innings amount this year will be the same this year regardless of whether he pitches them in the bullpen or in AA as a starter. It doesn't matter how he gets there, so either way, he'll be in the exact same boat come 2022. That's why I want him to work with our major league coaches out of the pen.
  16. Haha, you actually DID type pitches. I thought you meant innings, so I corrected it for you. My bad!
  17. This is flat-out wrong. You definitely can get to 80-100 innings while pitching out of the bullpen for a full year. You can't look at history and see how many guys around baseball hit that mark from the bullpen because those other guys aren't in the same boat. If a plan is put in place for Crochet, they will get him to that innings number.
  18. If Crochet is a multi-inning reliever, then he can enter the game in a variety of situations. Some of his appearances might be high leverage, but some might be in a 10-1 game in the 6th inning. That's the perfect opportunity to work on a third pitch. Also, I don't think a regular schedule matters this year. I believe @ptatc has pointed out that for this year, it doesn't matter how he gets to his ~100 innings. I don't think he's going to be any better off come spring training 2022 if he built up his innings on a regular schedule this year. Look, I completely understand both sides of the argument, and I wouldn't be upset if he started in AA. I just don't understand how people can say this is such a stupid move when it seems more like a decision that could go either way.
  19. Doesn’t sound stupid to me. Build up his innings while getting to work with Katz and contributing to the big league team. But I guess there’s no reason to rehash this argument. As I’ve pointed out throughout this thread, I agree with what the Sox are doing with Crochet. It’s such a unique situation because there aren’t guys like him with such a small amount of innings in previous years. Both options have advantages and disadvantages, but I prefer him working with our big league coaches to build up to 90-100 innings.
  20. I wonder if Hector's tweets truly earned Cruz more money from the Twins.
  21. Most depressing part of this thread is the realization that we only have Engel for three more years. We’re screwed starting in 2024.
