Are you and others really taking his comment seriously? It was an obvious joke, and I'm assuming it was made to poke fun at the whiners/complainers.

I admittedly don’t know much about WAR when it comes to pitchers, but if Rodon keeps this pace for the entire season, how is that only 6.5 WAR? Lynn has had a better full year than what Rodon’s year would look like if he kept this pace? How is that possible? EDIT: Perhaps it’s because he’s only started 5 games, but a record of 25-0 with a 0.58 ERA seems like it should be worth more than 6.5 WAR.

You need to add context. TLR was confident they would throw Hamilton another breaking ball because he looked terrible on the first two (I'm sure everyone watching was expecting another breaking ball...I definitely was). If he does throw another breaking ball, it's either low and inside, which gives Leury a very high probability of being safe, or he hangs it in the zone, which gives Hamilton a chance to put it in play.

I'm not so sure about that, which is why I didn't hate the steal attempt.

If that's the same breaking ball he was throwing before that pitch, I believe Leury is safe (or Hamilton puts it in play). And yes, Hamilton needs to make contact, but if he doesn't, you need a base hit by Lamb. I would want that potential hit by Lamb to score two runs.

I actually don't hate the steal attempt. They were peppering Hamilton with breaking balls. Just happened to be a fastball and a perfect pitch to throw on. And it's not like it was the bottom half of the inning where one run wins the game. I was hoping for two runs. But I can't understand pitching to Winker. Terrible decision, and not just in hindsight. I was screaming for them to walk him before a pitch was even thrown.

Huh? Without the double switch, Hendriks would have been due up 4th last inning. Having Hendriks run was the correct call. Having Hamilton ever bat in a major league game is not the correct call.

Why are people complaining about Hendriks running here? Would you rather have him batting this inning? I certainly don't want to take him out of the game.

He never said the models are a trillion times more accurate. He said over a large sample, the model will be more accurate than a scout 99.99999999999% of the time. EDIT: I'm not trying to argue the math. I'm trying to argue the context of the math.

Remember that one time when Greg Maddux needed only 76 pitches to throw a complete game against the Cubs? Well the Rangers have 106 pitches after only 3 innings. Ouch.

Sometimes when I’m trying to decide what the best decision is, I think about what the other team is hoping we would do. I think Texas would rather have Grandal bunt than have Robert attempt a steal. And I’m saying that as somebody who doesn’t hate the decision to bunt. It’s like when you’re watching a football game and the opposing team has 4th and inches at their own 40 yard line. You’re probably thinking “Please punt.” That tells you right there that they are probably better off going for it.
