Even with Messick going tomorrow you will now have seen his twice in 5 days. That in most cases is an incredible advantage to the hitters. Take into account the lineup against lefties right now is probably better to some degree.

I just was thinking to myself. You know how all around baseball everyone is shocked that the Sox are doing this? The more I thought about it, this is kind of exactly what I expected them to do because if you have watched this team for the last say 10 years, you have seen tons of bad baseball and bad players. This fan base probably knows better than many what a good vs bad baseball player looks like just because you have seen so many different players. If you’ve paid attention to the minors and watched these kids grow, you knew there was actual talent. If you’ve paid attention and watched this season alone, you saw them become a good baseball team. You watched them take series from the Dodgers, the braves, the rays, the cubs. You played well against the Yankees. They never looked overmatched by any team except for the brewers at the beginning of the season. This team competed night in and night out. The never lost more then 4 in a row all year. So the more I think about it, the more expect them to compete and win every night until they don’t.

They won two of three from the Red Sox and only scored 4 runs the entire series.

They faced weak competition down the stretch including the A's, checked out Red Sox, Royals, Baltimore, and Detroit. They basically caught teams at the right time all while getting gifts for runs. Just watch that 9th inning against the Royals on Friday night the last series of the year.
