  1. Yep and all are unavailable, almost untouchable via trade, or making more than we have to offer. Who in Daddy Jerry’s minimal budget would be better? I still like Archer bounce back
  2. Lol the 5 parts left when there is 15 million or less available according to many sources
  3. Agreed, but we also can't be naive enough to think that when Jerry won't discuss an extension due to CoVid and is giving out FA budgets in winning time that those days could come in 2022 or 2023. I still say they are going for it in 2021-23, I just won't look beyond then acting like this is going to be a decade long dynasty:)
  4. You won;t get a Sale package for one year of Gio when Boston got Sale for 3. If you have to go that way, though as you said, it is what it is
  5. It's not a disaster if they win 1-2 in the next 3 years then have to reassemble or break down and start up again. It's baseball outside of LA and Tampa. The disaster is that we don't have an owner that will ride it out if it costs him $$$
  6. At that point though, if you haven't won already, your payroll is going to be topping $180 million and there won't be that offseason where you can go spend. If there's a hole at SP at that point, you are toast. We don't draft like the Rays, we don't spend like the Dodgers or Padres. I soooo hope I'm wrong, but there will never be a better time to win than these next 2 years. Winning a WS is tough, acting like we are going to be there every year til 2026 is a pipedream. Jerry won't spend that long:)
  7. Most of the online foodies and even not Cishek keep hinting they had about $15 million left to play with after Hendriks. More than likely because that would push them in upwards of $180 million on the luxury tax books (not actual spending) and give them little flexibility moving forward.
  8. Agreed. I still say this window is 2021-23. When the core players get too expensive, he will tell RH to disassemble. I put all of my eggs in the basket for the next three years and try to win. This pipedream that somehow we are going to be able to crank out our own starting 5 consistently replacing parts and losing nothing (because we certainly aren't going to spend for it) isn't reality. Lynn possibly gone after this year, Keuchel the next year, then probably Gio. Go get one more pitcher now and try to win 1-2 immediately.
  9. Here we go again.....I still believe after sources saying Jerry wants to wait on Gio's extension until after the pandemic (just making it more expensive and less likely Jerry does it), the window is from 2021-23. Gotta go for it now. I'm going for choice A, sign LaStella or Wong and go get this. I did find it funny though that choice B was Trevor Cahill and nothing else. Is Trevor Cahill gonna cost $15 million???????
  10. If Eloy is our DH do we trade Vaughn? Abreu is here for 2 more years and he's going to be 36 when his contract ends. We know how Jerry loves his guys...Abreu will be here as long as he wants, so are you saying we have 3 guys for two spots? If so, what do we do? Not being a smart aleck, just trying to figure out best end game.
  11. I absolutely can see this working as well, but I still don't see the massive difference between Paxton who may get $15 million vs Archer/Richards who may get $5-$8 and allow you to go get an extra piece. I hear ya though on Collins but if you need a catcher for 60+ games, I want a vet at this point if they don't have confidence
  12. I am starting to believe though the Sox need to make some decisions. We weren't giving 3 years to a utility type, but those type of guys are starting to shrink away as well. The puzzle is DH, utility bat, #4 SP, backup C. I say we need 3 of 4. Quality of options though in each dwindles with each day.......
  13. Stuck with Flowers (Avila) and Archer? I'm ok with that if there is a bat brewing right now........if we cash in on no one and this is the last two moves, not so thrilled....
  14. I normally would go with this logic, but what quality of a SP do you think you are going to get going from $5 million to $15 million. Most of the guys in the $10-$15 range (Tanaka, Paxton, etc) are going to want a multi year deal or have issues similar to the $5 million types (Archer, etc.). I'm still a fan of cheap SP, good bat, backup C, call it an offseason. I think you get more value out of that than spending "big" on one more SP and going in house with a bat. Or maybe the Sox just save up that extra $10 million to use at the deadline.
  15. Cruz and Archer easy. I don’t think Cruz is signing for $12 but I think Jerry could understand a couple extra....
  16. I’m not moving Cease, Vaughn, and Heuer unless this discussion has become Luis Castillo......;)
  17. To me this becomes which is more attainable for both a short and long run. You get a cheap SP ($5 mill ish) you take a run at Cruz and give up no collateral. You trade for a cheap SP but possibly lose Vaughn but having pitching set up long term. FYI, if we trade Vaughn for Burnes, I’d give up Lopez and another upside SP like Stiever or Thompson but Vaughn is nearly a top 10 mlb prospect. Burnes ain’t Sale
  18. Thanks. I’m trying to be clear about that but must not be doing a good enough job. I’m more trying to think why they wouldn’t make a big move monetarily right now and the reasons I laid out seemed to be the most logical reason I could come up with. I’m really not a dope:)
  19. Nope not using those big numbers at all. I’m a math teacher I can read numbers. I’m taking values straight off of contract numbers for this year at the correct number and looking at NEXT years numbers when looking at Moncada does indeed get a raise as does Hendriks etc. my numbers are correct. I’d be happy to lay them out in a spreadsheet and add them up for you. No spin here just adding numbers. I don’t mind having a discussion but your tone seems kind of aloof. You can disagree. What I laid out were legit concerns looking at Reinsdorfs spending past as it relates to the future. I think he should press that tax number with this team but that’s not my choice.
  20. It's the luxury tax number. Right. I know the payroll isn't anywhere near that (About 18 million less), but when people keep talking about sign Bauer at 3/$100 or this guys at 3/$36, what I'm saying is with raises coming next year, the Sox can't lock in to these 3 year deals because it's going to lock them up for spending come next offseason because they will be up close to the tax cap.
  21. All good. I wish they would just keep it simple and call it $195 million and not include the $15.5 million because every team has it included. Makes people think teams have that much more to spend before they hit the tax.
  22. The payroll is at about $145, but that's not all that's included in the luxury tax ceiling
  23. I've looked over the individual numbers at sportstrac several times and it looks correct. The only thing I haven't been able to find info on is the money deemed "benefits" that seems to be included, but all teams have it at about $15 million included. The numbers for increases in salaries for 2022 are accurate as well from what I have researched, but I still could have slipped up somewhere:)
  24. So you add Bauer and don't sign Lynn. OK. That still will add about $15 million to your payroll next year putting it at $178ish. We are still on hopes we don't need a starter. Are you also assuming if no Gio extension now that he's basically going to walk after 2023? I guess if you saw that coming you go for it this year and play it out? That's an option I suppose
