  1. How any of you could b**** and moan while Colome is in the midst of a 10+ WAR season is beyond me. We are witnesses to history, folks!
  2. He is more ready for a promotion than Robert was, as crazy as that sounds. He’s not overmatched in any capacity and we need to see what he can do against pitchers with better control and also what might happen once his bat meets the juiced baseball.
  3. What is the ceiling on The Yoplait Kid? Yolmer 2.0 or can he be better than that?
  4. I remember that article. Under-21 players who perform at this level are virtually never flukes and the majority turn into superstars and Hall of Famers.
  5. This is already one of the worst trades in baseball history. For all the reasons you all know. I think I’ll reach acceptance level when we start winning.
  6. That’s a bummer. I think Collins has a much higher ceiling than Reed and if he’s going to be productive in any capacity next season it’s much more likely to happen if he gets nearly half a season of MLB experience in 2019. Let him get his lumps in now. Same reason I want to see Robert and Madrigal up by August. This team is in a position to contend for the postseason in 2020 simply by promoting from within and adding a pitcher or two. Playing the service time game and giving at bats to guys that won’t be a part of the next good White Sox team doesn’t make sense anymore.
  7. Can’t wait for the meltdown if the Sox take Baty at 3.
  8. They are w/r/t evaluating pitcher performance.
  9. Barrel% triple the mlb avg and top 5 OVERALL in all of MLB, EV of 92mph puts him in the 91st percentile, hard hit% 95th percentile, career best xSLG and xWOBA, launch angle up 2 degrees from his career average....were these the stats you were looking for?
  10. As hawk used to say if you’re going to be bad at least be bad for both teams. That unfortunately has not been the case today.
  11. Reynaldo is just a very shiny gascan at this point. Gonna need to see a lot more from him before penciling him into the future rotation, much less calling him the best anything.
  12. CB giving plesac an inch off the plate all day and not giving gio the same. Amazing that he hasn't given anything up to this point.
  13. It’s just impressive to me that Chris Sale has actually become even better in Boston and yet that trade very much looks like a win-win at this point. How often does a team trade a cheap young Hall of Fame pitcher and get an adequate return? But it in terms of value returned for value given, it’s the Eaton trade. Had he remained healthy it would’ve been more of a tossup, but his injuries and the emergence of Giolito and Lopez make it a slam dunk.
  14. Any word on burdis velo? Not seeing anything on twitter. Curious if he’s sitting high nineties again. No walks is the best part of his line. He’ll be up in a month if the command clicks in.
  15. Even if not he’s got to be number one. Imagine if madrigal (polished as heck hitter, discerning, rarely strikes out, quick wheels) were four years younger, was much stronger, was a switch hitter, had more raw power, and could play SS. That’s wander franco. For Robert to pass him he’d have to do at double and triple-A what he did at Winston Salem.
  16. All bunting does there is slightly increase your chance of tying the game, but it does not meaningfully increase your chance of winning the game bc You just put a bullet in the belly of your chance to score multiple runs. And that’s with a successful bunt. 99% of major-league players have no business trying to lay down a bunt at all. Quite frankly we should see players bunting as often as we see a straight steal of home. That’s how rare it is for the stars to align making it the best strategy available.
  17. You had to invent a situation of various extremes to make bunting even a remotely viable option, and so in the process you have inadvertently proved the case against bunting. If an idea necessitates such an extraordinary amount of theoretical gimmickry, it is probably garbage.
  18. Thing is I don’t think he’s hitting seven because Ricky recognizes a matchup problem. Yonder for example is struggling like crazy and even when facing guys he’s historically not hit well he’s still in the middle of the order. There’s just no reason for a mediocre offense to ever put one of its best bats in the bottom third of the order.
  19. Tim Anderson has a .993 OPS against RHP this season. Still hitting seventh today. I don’t even have the words.
  20. Madrigal with the juiced baseball will hit 10+ homers a year, and that’s perfectly fine for someone who is above average in literally every other category.
  21. Anyone with a good scouting report on Vaughn’s defense? I’ve read everything from serviceable to fantastic. If they’re going to draft an undersized first baseman, it would be nice if he was slick with the glove Given that the left side of the White Sox infield isn’t the most accurate throwing the ball to first base.
  22. The stat cast data suggests that he’s just as good if not even a little better than the last few years. Those balls will start clearing fences real soon. https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/j-d-martinez-502110?stats=career-r-hitting-mlb
  23. We’ll see. If he puts up another big year then I think 4/100 or 5/115 is what it would take.
  24. He’s only 31 and one of the five or so best hitters in baseball. He’ll get his hundred million for sure.
  25. Indeed, cromulent young arms embiggen even the thinnest pitching staffs.
