QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 18, 2007 -> 12:53 AM) But, seriously, calling animal control is not the only option. If the skunk is a male and you or one of your neighbors has a pet cat (black with a white belly works best), you can arrange for it to rub against some wet white paint and the resulting stripe down its back often fools skunks into thinking the cat is a female skunk. At that point you can usually get the cat to lead the skunk off your property. I have seen Chuck Jones depict this very strategy on several occasions, so I think your chances of success are quite high. [A quick word of caution, however. Make sure the cat knows if she is running away from le' skunk and finds that she has accidentally run off the edge of a cliff, she should NOT LOOK DOWN, because she apparently will only succumb to the pull of gravity after she has looked down to discover she is suspended in mid-air.]

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 10:38 PM) Sounded like the Hawks had some good chances, but just couldn't finish. It also sounded like the Blues made it a real point to take Toews and Kane out of the game. Two things that obviously need work. 1.Special teams. The PK needs to get better, and guys have to start stepping up on the PP. 2.Tempo to start the game. I said it in the post earlier, but the Hawks can't continue to dig themselves in a hole, and expect consistent wins. I was able to catch a bit if the post game show, and Sharp mentioned the same thing, how he was disappointed in how they came out of the gate tonight. Right now I'm still willing to give the Hawks a "getting to know you" period to get the special teams together, but you're right, that's a huge part of building a winning team. And YES, leads are a good thing! It's great to see the scrappy, never-say-die, no-quit attitude this team is showing, but trailing late will get old in a hurry! Toews and Kane better get used to being targeted, too - that's life in the NHL, guys! (I do think they'll adjust) -
I don't remember Dick Allen playing third, but I bet that was awesome! He's still my favorite Sox player ever.

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!! Highlight the text below if ya wanna know: Kurt Angle is once again the TNA champion. Typical, stupid two-referee "double decision" followed by Cornette having to decide which decision stands. UGH. Nice "Tommy Rich Title Reign" they gave Sting this time... Worth it, huh??? -
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 12:24 PM) Thanks. At first I thought maybe Tony Iommi had done something wrong. But I think old people like him don't get the "cool initialized nicknames". Right T.C.? Kevin Garnett told me I better not call you K.G.

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 11:03 AM) I couldn't think of a better deal for the Hawks. Not only get your home games on TV, but if you are able to put them on a National network, the NHL just step up and really push for it, seeing as they could use all the ehlp they can get. Would the league be upset that WGN could negatively affect their Versus deal? I almost greened that entire sentence, except that I believe the NHL's goofy "leadership" could actually get upset about a real network trumping their little unknown, hard-to-find "television home". -

QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Oct 17, 2007 -> 08:44 AM) Bucc actually picked the Hawks to make the playoffs, and has been really high on this club, which is good to see. By the grace of God, I flipped on Mike North this morning, and to my surprise Tim Sassone was on to talk Hawks. No real new info, but he said he wouldn't at all be surprised to see home games on tv THIS SEASON, possibly on WGN(I find that a little far fetched, seeing as the Hawks own 25% of Comcast) I've always heard that WGN has had a deal in place with Peter several times in the past, but Bill always nixed it. Maybe that deal is still in place and could happen despite the Hawks' ownership stake in Comcast. -

Somebody PLEASE stop Vince Russo. David Arquette Returning to Wrestling? Date Added: October 16, 2007 Story By: Marc Middleton Partial source: Wrestling Observer - TNA is in talks with former WCW World Champion and actor David Arquette about making his TNA debut. Apparently Arquette has contacted Johnny Fairplay to be his manager. In other bad news, Booker and Sharmell's WWE release is official. -
QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 06:35 PM) Seriously, this girl is my best friend, and i just keep telling her how this is the dumbest decision she can make. It really killing me right now. She just won't hear it from me right now. It sucks when I've been right every time before and she just won't listen. She's like my sister and i can't stand to see this happen. Don't belabor the point with her, though. You've said your piece, if you push the point you may alienate her. All you can do now is keep your eyes and ears open about this guy, and be there for her if she needs you. People are going to make their own mistakes, and as much as you want to protect her, sometimes people won't accept the halp, no matter how well-intentioned it is. Of course, handing the guy a copy of your state's statutory rape laws wouldn't be a bad idea, either.... [/half-green]

So Sting capturing the TNA title doesn't rate a mention until now? Bet Kurt's sorry he brought out "the old Sting" now!!! -
QUOTE(Sonik22 @ Oct 15, 2007 -> 06:11 PM) Your thoughts: a 16 yr old girl hanging out with a 21 yr old guy. 21-year-old guy wants to have sex with 16-year-old girl.

The wife signed up for Blockbuster Online, and they have no disc restriction like that. Whatever order you line up your requested discs, that's the order they're shipped. It's a good deal, actually.

It's really nice to have kids who look ready right away. I can't remember the last time the Hawks had impact kids come up and contribute immediately. I'm so much more hopeful for their chances than I was just a couple weeks ago - it's a great feeling. Looks like my first game this season will be November 9th vs. St. Louis - I can't wait! -
Packers held on to beat the Redskins 17-14. Franks and Driver suffered injuries, no word on how serious either one was.

Vikings defender falls on his ass and Berrian is all alone for a TD. 14-7 Bears.

QUOTE(Drew @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 12:29 PM) Watching the Indians drummer makes me miss Andy the Clown. At least Drum Guy stays in one spot, making him easy to avoid. Andy The Clown would roam the park, bellowing in people's ears. Even as a kid The Clown annoyed me.
-
So far today's Bears game is going according to form: Devin "The Only Offense" Hester returns a punt for a TD. And Adam Archaletyagetby gets turnstiled for a Vikings TD.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 11:16 AM) I think he's a top two fan in all of baseball. -- I just think that Drum Fan's dedication is praise-worthy. He's been doing it since 1971 and has only missed ten games, if I recall correctly. Besides that, I'm not in the business of deriding individualism and dedication and creativity and fan support. I thought he said during the interview with TBS that he can't do day games because of work, but he makes all the night games. When I went to The Jake, I was two sections over and I didn't really notice him at all. I don't think I'd buy a ticket in his section, though - that drum would drive me nuts. Anyone remember when the Blackhawks had the four or five drummers walking around during games? I wanted to strangle those guys.

QUOTE(bmags @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 11:48 AM) i'm sure its an easy way to get hits. Oh yeah, I know why the site would post it, I just don't see why a Radiohead fan would go elsewhere unless they didn't realize they could get the disc from the band's site. Or maybe they'd feel worse taking the disc for free from the band's site?

If they can build up some momentum heading towards that God-forsaken "circus trip" (or "ice show trip", I'm never sure which stupid killer trip comes first), they can definitely make some noise this year. I also read in the Sun-Times today that the Hawks may actually be looking at televising home games in the not-so-distant future, so this organIzation might actually be heading into the 21st Century!! -
QUOTE(StatManDu @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 11:21 AM) You're right ... Made the fix! It's still early in some parts of my brain! Just messin' with ya, SMD!

QUOTE(StatManDu @ Oct 14, 2007 -> 11:06 AM) Since the advent of interleague play in 1997, 2007 marked only the second time a White Sox failed to get at least one hit (1998 was the other). Is the word "pitcher" missing from this post? I don't remember the Sox getting no-hit in every interleague game....
