  1. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 07:51 PM) Yeah, it is. They dry scrape it to get rid of all the snow and s*** so pucks don't bounce off sticks. OK, thanks. Never did see that (or never paid attention). Wolves win 2-1 in shootout, 11-0-1 now!!!!
  2. This is AHL related, but is it common practice to Zamboni the middle of the ice between OT and shootout? They just did it in Rochester, and I don't think I've ever seen it done before.
  3. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 07:19 PM) As I told Keith, I'd listen to Berman do all 41 home games if it meant they were on TV. Ouch. I'd hate to hear Combover Chris when the Hawks played Boston or New York.
  4. QUOTE(EvilJester99 @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 06:48 PM) Kane's goal was off a sweet pass from Lang.....man these guys look good so far. Looks like a nice crowd there too. Is it just me or does Comcast's sound still suck?? It does indeed suck. But I'm NOT complaining. I'll mute it before I whine about a home game on TV.
  5. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 04:56 PM) You wouldn't be able to watch the real game at 6:00.
  6. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Nov 11, 2007 -> 04:41 PM) So who's watching this instead of the Bears 2nd half? Unfortunately, I have to work tonight. I'll watch the pregame and then I'm off to the job.
  7. Jeremy Roenick scored career goal #500 last night. CONGRATS JR!!!! Always one of my favorite Hawks - talented scorer, would hit anything that moved, and wasn't afraid to speak his mind in a very entertaining way.
  8. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Nov 10, 2007 -> 06:37 PM) Any time you knock a guy off his skates in open ice, its a pretty solid knock. So your right about that. I was thinking the same thing about the ticket people, but I'm pretty sure the same people who do the bulls games also do the hawks games. I saw Doug Ryan, Director of Ticket Sales, enter the backroom of the ticket office and he started chewing bubble gum and kicking asses... and he was all out of bubble gum. It was honestly annoying that the hawks still cant get everything right, but there in the right direction. On another note... Kane's goal last night was interesting. He had a Thomas Jones like cut back, drawing the defense off the puck and then threw a weakish wrister off Legace's glove. Im not sure if he stickhandled Legace out of position or what, but Kane got it past him. Seemed to me like maybe Legace was partially screened and got a late look at it. He did get a piece of it, so I believe he got less than a great look at it. Kane did a lot of nice skating to maneuver himself into a good shooting position, so credit goes to him regardless. The ticket people were horrible last year when no one was going, so it appears to me that they may need some more competent people in the booths. Their problems with walkup customers always leads me to buy in advance, even if it's the day before.
  9. QUOTE(MurcieOne @ Nov 10, 2007 -> 05:50 PM) I was at the game last night, and Bolland hit Kariya... knocked him off his feet but it wasn't that bad of a hit, Bolland is too skinny to make any hit bad. They definitely sat on the lead later in the game.... and Rudy turned the puck over way too many times. Overall they outplayed a good veteran Blues team... a team I think that can make the playoffs if they get better goaltending out of Legace. Finally, I got to the game at 7:20 and didnt get inside until close to 8, why? Because of the ticket office people who were pathetic, they couldnt handle even a small rush of walk-up crowd. The UC ticket people obviously have gotten used to very small crowds, they're incapable of handling any volume of customers. I still say the Boland hit was a real nice pop - sure, it was small-on-small crime, but Kariya flew backwards when Bolland hit him. Kariya had his head down for a second and paid for it.
  10. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 11:34 PM) Bolland probly had the best hit I can remember. BTW, Critic, how does your daughter not wake up to the horn during the Hawks EN goal or at the end of the game when the horn sounded 4 times? LOL. Bolland CRUSHED that guy - beautiful open-ice hit! I have NO IDEA how she stayed asleep!!!! LOL Between the horns and the drunken f***s arguing behind us, it was a miracle she didn't wake up! I'm kind of glad, because I didn't want to have to try to explain what "f***er", "s***head" and "a**hole" mean. Oh, and Krush, this should be nice for you to hear - my kid NEVER falls asleep during Wolves games. She is completely into the whole deal at the Allstate!
  11. Just got home - VERY fun night at the UC! Nice giveaway hat, and a pretty large crowd with a fair share of Blues fans. A couple things I noticed tonight: Wisniewski had a pretty sloppy game, but didn't hurt the team much. Toews played well but seemed to have a hard time receiving passes. A lot of pucks bouncing off his stick. Lalime was sharp except for the 2nd goal. Legace let in one he should've had, too, so those cancel each other out. Even when the play doesn't amount to much, Kane is a f***ing magician with the puck. Watching him get a head fo steam down the center of the ice is a thing of beauty. All in all it was a hard-fought game on both sides (although no actual fighting took place, which I appreciated very much), and the Hawks definitely deserved the win tonight. Here's the recap on my daughter's night: Ate two ice creams - one before the game, one at the start of the 2nd period Cheered like crazy at the beginning of the game Read her Junie B. Jones book for most of the 1st and half of the 2nd period. Fell asleep halfway through the 2nd period, never to awaken until I brought her in the house and placed her in her bed. She woke up, told me "I got sleepy, Dad", said "Yay" when I told her the Hawks won and went to sleep again in her Hawks jersey. I can't wait to go back to the UC to see this team.

    Pet peeves....

QUOTE(maggliopipe @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 02:52 PM) I hate when a dish-sponge gets used and not wrung out, then sits in the sink sopping wet overnight, and I'm the next to use it. It's really just one of the most disgusting smells. I hate when I'm trying to take a dump in a public bathroom and somebody's gotta come and sit right next to me (only occasionally putting their hand under the stall divider, and waving it palm up in an upward direction). Also, though I don't necessarily fault the people who use the service for using it, I hate the thing at Six Flags where you can pay to skip to the front of the line. I hate when people try to take every minute detail of a conversation and tell me how it relates to them, even if they're only tangentially involved in the conversation, i.e. attention whores. For instance, if I'm talking with Person A about, say, running and Person B who happens to be sitting in the vicinity feels the need to say that s/he hates running when I wasn't talking to them in the first place. Or I'm telling Person A about a trip I had and rather than listening, they interrupt and start talking about a similar trip on which s/he went. You know, that's interesting that you bring that up, I had a similar situation just the other day....
  13. The Pistols are back, and apparently "still got it": http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20071109/music_...ols_comeback_dc Too bad it's only a small UK mini-tour - I'd LOVE to see them again!!!

QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 09:19 AM) back on topic...and this should stir things up a little....but talking or even worse texting while driving. I know most people think they are, but trust me...you are not the same driver on the phone as you are off the phone. Not too mention there are already bad drivers out there, put them on the phone and we're looking at disaster. Also, and this has to do with the phone as well...I absolutely dread getting behind anyone at an arrow light anymore. I would say at least 50% of the time some person isn't paying attention. That percentage grows with more people in front of you. It is probably my absolute biggest pet peeve. I don't care if you are a slow driver...fine everyone is different...I just want you to go when the light changes. You should be doing one thing at a red light and that's watching for it to turn green. People walking downtown obliviously while on their cell phones are a danger as well. You take an idiot talking/texting while driving and add an idiot walking around talking/texting and you have a recipe for tragedy. Although if it's just those two idiots involved, I'm not sure how much of a tragedy it would be.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 9, 2007 -> 09:01 AM) I knew a guy who hated windshield wipers so he NEVER used them. No RainX, no nothing. He did turn his lights on though. Driving with him was scary when it rained. I only did it once. Wow, that's kind of an irrational thing to hate.

QUOTE(Steff @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 07:16 PM) I'm sure he hates the fact that he moves that slow as well. Hopefully if it's some sort of disability he doesn't ever hear the comments above. I hope so too, because I wouldn't want someone who was never named, whose stop on the train was not disclosed, and who was never described in any detail beyond his weight to be offended.
  17. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 06:35 PM) First off, good luck moving that contract. And if you do, you are taking some overpaid POS in return. Habby is a better goalie than Lalime. Habby gives up 3 goals sunday where he was pretty much helpless and all the sudden Lalime is a God? This team goes nowhere with Lalime starting 60+. Habby has just been a scapegoat for the past 2 seasons even though he was far from the problem...it's just easier for the average 'fan' to throw everything on him. The problem the last two years is that the roster sucked, not that the tending was holding them back. He's not up to his cup form but he's still a pretty decent goalie and is better than Lalime. I like Lalime as a backup just fine, but if the Hawks are going to even sniff the playoff race this year they're going to need a steady Khabibulin. I do wonder how much Khabi benefited from the Tampa style of play (how much was the system and how much was him), but I think he can still play much better than he has. Also, Krush speaketh the truth about that contract - any team will demand that someone they overpaid be included in any deal involving Khabi's deal.
  18. Whatcha gonna dooooo for a defense, brother????? from Lords Of Pain: Cops have concluded Nick Hogan was drinking the night he crashed his Supra, severely injuring his best friend. In addition to being arrested for reckless driving involving serious bodily injury, cops also cited Hogan for use of a motor vehicle in the commission of a felony, a person under the age of 21 operating a vehicle with a breath-alcohol level of .02 or higher and having an Illegal window tint.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 02:17 PM) More commuters ones... The Oompa-loopa looking person who can barely walk, yet has to line up at the door multiple stops early and jams up the exit for everyone else, so that they can be the first off of the train at their stop, only to then clog up the stairs with their fat/slow ass. If you move that slow, you aren't going to get to work any quicker by being the first off of the train. HEY, EFF YOU!!! I'M MOVING AS FAST AS I CAN!!!! I mean..........YEAH, I hate that guy, too.......
  20. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 02:58 PM) So he should be on TNA by next week Yep, one more useless, unnecessary ex-WWE slug to infest TNA. The imminent feud against Lance Hoyt should be HUGE MONEY. Barf.
  21. QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 8, 2007 -> 10:23 AM) Is WLUP still rock? That was my fov station before I moved. Brandmeier, Mathews, Dahl, Stroud had a noon time gig. Yeah it is. "Brandmeier in the mornings, the best classic rock alllllllll dayyyyyyyy" It is, by default, the best rock station in Chicago.
  22. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 11:15 AM) Yeah, ok. I'd rather have anyone on this team than Juan Uribe. He has eaten himself to worthless and I just can't handle another 162 with him as our SS. I understand and agree with that, I just don't see anyone on the FA market who'd come cheaper and provide a considerable enough upgrade. If the Sox aren't trading for a shortstop there was no other choice but to bring him back.
  23. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Nov 7, 2007 -> 11:09 AM) OH DEAR GOD THEY PICKED UP THE OPTION according to espn 1000 im going to kill myself. I appreciate the passion but don't understand the freakout. They really had no choice if they didn't trade for another SS. There was no viable in-house alternative.
