QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 10:20 PM) I really thought we were going to hear something today. Guess not. If Kenny can't pull off a deal by tomorrow night, is it a given Uribe is back? I'd say that's a good bet. If they don't deal for a SS, then I think Uribe's option gets picked up for sure. If they don't pick up the option, teams will know the Sox are dealing from desperation and the price for any SS goes way up. Or they have to pick up whichever FA is out there, no matter if they're good or not, and who knows if they'll cost more than Juan would have.

QUOTE(MHizzle85 @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 05:15 PM) New stipulation in the HBK/Orton match at Survivor Series. If HBK even attempts sweet chin music he'll be disqualified. But if Orton even attempts to be disqualified he'll lose the strap. I'm not sure how i feel about this stipulation. So I see the writers left some notes behind when they went out on strike. Smells like a DQ win for Orton when the ref mistakes some regular move for a superkick....after the DQ Shawn superkicks Orton again and the fans pop. Ugh. -

QUOTE(rowandrules83 @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 02:40 PM) Here's a stupid question...the WWE has creative writers, right? Would they be affected by the ongoing Writers' Guild strike? I'm REALLY hoping that the writers' strike allows the wrestlers to give input into their characters and storylines. That's how it worked before wrestling got "big". It seems like the writers didn't understand the business and had no idea what to do with most of the guys anyway. -
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 6, 2007 -> 10:56 AM) My view on this is that the girl settles for a guy she is with just because it fits her timeline. I used to work with a guy who did the same thing. He married a troll, unattractive inside and out, because he had this mental problem about having to be married before he turned 30. He was like 29 and 7 months or some s***. I never expected to get married (because I too am a troll, unattractive inside and out), so I had no such deadline.

None of the names listed as replacements for Uribe thrill me all that much, though.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 01:25 PM) I hate when you let someone in front of you in traffic, and they don't wave, like they're entitled to be there and don't give a s*** that you were nice enough to let them in. On the other hand, it always makes my day a little better when the other person waves. Totally agree both ways. It makes me feel good when someone does wave, and pisses me off when they don't, especially when their lane is cutting off or there's some other situation where it absolutely is a favor to let them in. I've found way more people do wave than don't, so that's good at least.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 12:41 PM) My wife has a hoop at her parents house. She and her sisters always beat me in "Horse". I have no problems admitting it, as I hate basketball. But yeah, watching me try to score in that game is pretty funny. We'd probably play the longest game of "21" in the history of the world. I'm really good at basketball, except for that part about throwing the ball through that metal ring on a pole. I play good D and am a real good passer, but my shot is for s***. -
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 12:29 PM) Recipe??? Yeah, I'm sure he uses one.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 5, 2007 -> 12:36 PM) I can't even score with just a ball, a hoop, and myself standing there, so I am pretty sure if you stuck anybody in front of me (especially a bunch of REAL tall guys) there is NO WAY I am scoring. Then add into it that most of my friends are just as skilled as I am at basketball, and I am still thinking of chanllenging them all to a game of tic-tac-toe. NICE! I am SO challenging you to hoops next time we meet up! -

"Gee, Dad, can I have some of those vitamins, too?" partial source: PWInsider.com -- What with Harry "D.H." Smith's suspension on Friday night, the "British Bulldog" Davey Boy Smith and Harry "D.H." Smith are now the first and only father-son combo to be suspended by World Wrestling Entertainment at one point in their respective careers due to substance abuse violations. Bret Hart revealed in his newly released autobiography Hitman: My Real Life in the Cartoon World of Wrestling that Davey Boy Smith received a six-week suspension in May 1992 for testing positive for steroids. Hart also notes in his book that McMahon was forced to fire Smith (and the Ultimate Warrior) in November 1992 for receiving shipments of growth hormone from a dealer in the U.K. who had just been busted. Also as a shock to no one, Chris Masters was suspended for 60 days for a second violation of the Wellness Policy. -
QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Nov 4, 2007 -> 11:39 PM) Even though this is a nerd thing to do, Im gonna brag anyways that my 12 inch softball team just won the Fall league championships tonite. We smoked the first team 17-2, the second team we beat 13-9, and we won our championship game 13-12 in the 8th inning (extra inning in softball) after being down 11-0 in the 2nd inning. This is my first year playing after taking 2 years off, and I forgot how much fun it is to get out and compete a little bit, even though its not for anything but a neat little trophy. Congrats, Kyyle!! I really thought I'd miss the competition aspect of playing ball, since I was hyper-competitive in my younger days, but honestly the only thing I miss about softball is hanging out with the guys. Somehow talking to the other dads at the father/daughter school functions just doesn't bring the same kind of enjoyment as playing a game and downing some beers. OH, IT'S CLOSE, THOUGH..... My last season ended with our pitcher striking out the last out with the bases loaded and us leading by 2 in the 8th inning to win the championship. I don't know how you take strike 3 on a full count for the 3rd out in the title game with the bases loaded trailing by 2, but the guy just stood there and watched it drop. Good times.....

Aside from 2005, I'll go with 1970, the Brooks Robinson series. I love this quote from Sparky Anderson after the 70 Series (from Wiki): "I'm beginning to see Brooks in my sleep. If I dropped this paper plate, he'd pick it up on one hop and throw me out at first."

Sad news today: Courtesy of WWE.com: Fabulous Moolah passes away Written: November 3, 2007 WWE is saddened by the passing of Lillian Ellison, who was known to sports-entertainment fans as Hall of Famer Fabulous Moolah. She passed away last night in Columbia, S.C. In the world of women’s wrestling, there will always be one irrefutable legend that stands head and shoulders above the rest: The Fabulous Moolah. She was the longest reigning champion in the history of her chosen sport, or any sport for that matter. And with more than 50 years in the business to her credit, she established a legacy that will never be forgotten, making her name synonymous with female wrestling. WWE.com will have more on Fabulous Moolah as it becomes available. Moolah was always agreeable to whatever Vince wanted her to do, and would still take some pretty heavy bumps in her later years. for her family and friends. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 2, 2007 -> 05:03 PM) Hall appeared at Impact tapings and said he is NOT Sting's partner. I'm going with Booker. Critic, I know you hate Nash but I just saw his new RF Shoot and it is funny how he mocks the net. Talks about all his surgeries and sarcastically goes, "I had knee surgery cuz I didn't want to job to The Giant, Had my quad re-attached cuz I didn't want to job to Hunter, Had my shoulder operated on cuz I didn't want to job to Sabin. That is why I have all these surgeries to avoid putting others over." NASH FTW Hate's really too strong a word. I just fail to understand the huge love he gets. He's never been a good worker, he's useless as a booker because of his desire to keep himself and his friends in the limelight at the expense of others, he doesn't strike me as particularly funny (sure, a bit here or there gets a chuckle, but nothing worthy of the man-love he gets from "the smarks"), and his moveset is downright Hoganesque. Now that he's practically a cripple, I just don't see what he can possibly offer as an in-ring performer. -

I read that Dreamer called Heyman to let him know about the costume. I also read that Scott Hall will be Sting's "mystery partner" at Genesis. If this leads to yet another reunion of the tired, overdone, oh-so-Outdated Outsiders, I believe I will be swept away by a tidal wave of my own vomit. -
QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 11:27 AM) It's very true though. We don't consider self-shaving baldsters to being a part of our society. If you have chosen to be bald, you don't get a membership, you get blacklisted. If the day ever does arise when you lose your hair naturally, you will not be allowed in. Wow, bald-on-bald hate crimes! Who knew?? We fatsos are much more forgiving - we don't care how you got fat, we just bust out a pizza, some beers and maybe some cookies for dessert (....maybe..... ) and sit our fat asses on the sofa!

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 1, 2007 -> 09:59 AM) If Eckstein is roaming SS with his horrid arm this next season, I will be selling more of my tickets than I usually do. Come on! Eckstein's got a decent arm when he can work out of the windup - it's just when he works out of the stretch that his throws get weak.

My favorite Halloween candy last night was the final one I handed out, more than 90 minutes after the alleged town-mandated end of trick-or-treating. How does a crabass curmudgeon like me ALWAYS end up on Bucket Patrol at Halloween? The wife takes the kid out trick-or-treating and I sit like a dope next to the front door waiting for the parade of kids. I do enjoy two things about the trick-or-treaters: I love the little kids (2 years old and under) who barely even know they're wearing costumes. They're always the cutest kids on the face of the planet. and I love the total indifference of the early teenaged kids who still want the candy but put absolute zero effort into the endeavor. That kind of slacker mentality cracks me up every year.

There's a guy on the Minnesota Wild named Clutterbuck??? How many seconds into the pregame skate of his first game did it take for someone to nickname him Clusterf***?
