QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Sep 28, 2007 -> 02:59 PM) UPDATE: So my son comes home with a Cub stickers all over his backpack and folders. Plus a 8x10 picture of Michael Wuertz on a stick to wave around. We have removed the stickers and crap, but he won't give up Mr. Wuertz. I must stay strong. Harmless fun for a kid, don't sweat it. The games you watch together will influence his fandom much, much more than one day of school. Let him watch Wuertz give up a bunch of runs in a playoff game, he'll throw the picture away himself. Perfect choice on the apparel, by the way - nicely done.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 27, 2007 -> 10:54 PM) I also find make up smudges on my pillow every morning. Is that related? Probably not - you should just wait til morning to apply your make-up.

I just saw the Teddy Long "heart attack". That's some DAMN FINE ACTING. -
I gotta say, they sound pretty f***ing good. Dave's live vocals still bother me, but Ed sounds fantastic and Wolf sounds better than I figured he would. I still don't regret skipping it, but those who go should have a damn good time.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Sep 22, 2007 -> 02:13 PM) Anyone remember when the Bulls played some exibition games in Paris and Michael Jordan mentioned he enjoyed his visit to "the Luge"? My favorite is still when Mike Tyson said he was going to fade into Bolivian.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 26, 2007 -> 11:20 AM) This is why I love you. There are so many reasons why people should, I'm never sure which reason each person gravitates to.

QUOTE(G&T @ Sep 26, 2007 -> 11:23 AM) What did Cubs fans do in '05? If Cubs fans jumped off the Empire State Building, would YOU have to jump off the Empire State Building???? To me, it's irrelevant what some (and let's emphasize SOME) Cubs fans did during the Sox title run. This is about a good-natured 3rd grade "rally". My daughter's school had White Sox Day when the Sox got in the playoffs, and I'm sure some kids wore Cubs stuff that day. I'd want the bar set higher for my child, that's all.
-
Let him decide. If he wants to fit in and have a day out of the school uniform, get a cheap Cub t-shirt and remember that it's not war or religion, it's a game. If he doesn't want to wear a Cub shirt, send him to school in his regular school clothes and, if questioned, have him tell them he's a Sox fan and that he doesn't want to wear Cub stuff. I personally think sending him in Sox stuff would be a jerk move.

He actually does look a bit like Buerhle.

I'm not happy to hear this, but as a hockey fan in Chicago it's hard to muster up too much sympathy for him. His family, yes - because they loved him, I feel bad for their loss. It will be interesting to see what changes, if any, the family makes in their approach to running the Blackhawks. My theory has always been that the kids were playing "good cop" to Bill's "bad cop", but wouldn't do things very differently. I guess we'll see pretty soon.

I made the horrific mistake of clicking on the link to the Courtney Hole story. Yikes.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 25, 2007 -> 02:55 PM) It also seems very similar to the Y2J gimmick he was using when he first showed up to WWE. I love it, the world definitely needs some more Jericho I couldn't agree more. Jericho brings the funny and always stops my remote control thumb. -

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 10:27 AM) I can't figure out how he has that gig? I'm burned out by a couple of the Food Network personalities, Emeril, Rach, but give me back to back Good Eats and I'm a happy camper. Agreed. Good Eats is the best cooking show ever IMO. Fun and informative.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Sep 24, 2007 -> 07:26 AM) I hadnt played in 2 years before this year(I played every year after high school up until 2004) and I kind of had a feeling that my body wasnt going to recover the way it used to, so i started jogging before the season started to stretch my legs. I have a had a couple minor pulls and sprains this summer/fall, but nothing too major. Another guy on my team blew out his hamstring pretty good literally minutes after saying "I used to be in track in college, but now i just come out here once a week and run around with you guys" thats one hell of a comeback game though, Critic. 6 RBIs in two at bats is pretty good. I wish I'd have had more time to try to prepare for my "comeback". My friend who runs his softball team was watching my daughter (more accurately, his wife and daughter were) on Saturday night while my wife and I went to see George Lopez (who was hilarious, by the way), and he found out while I was at his house that 3 of his guys couldn't make it to yesterday's game. He asked me to play, and I felt obligated since he was doing me a favor. If it had been my idea, I definitely would've tried to get my legs used to the running again. Thanks for the nice words, Kyle - I could always swing the bat, it's the only reason my phone kept ringing when softball season came around. I felt a little weird that my buddy batted me 5th and dropped other guys who play every week down in the order.
-
So I played softball for the first time in 14 months today. (Back problems forced me off my team, but they were really hurting for players today and I agreed to give it a try to prevent a forfeit). I had a 2-RBI single and a grand slam in my first two at-bats. Then...........the inevitable happened. I pulled my right hamstring running out a possible double-play grounder. (I did beat the relay, so at least that) Finished the game (flew out and grounded out my last two at-bats), but I'm hurtin' right now. ....it does indeed suck to get old, kids....

Just one more reminder that Vince Russo has his finger FIRMLY on the pulse of the wrestling business: source: Wrestling Observer Newsletter -- There is talk of using the 48-year-old Kevin Nash again as a wrestler. Dutch Mantel is against the return, feeling he's burned TNA on doing jobs too many times in the past. Vince Russo on the other hand, is pushing for his return because he was a star in the late 90s. Ultimately, it's Jeff Jarrett's call. -
QUOTE(zenryan @ Sep 23, 2007 -> 01:22 AM) Jardine really looked good tonight. I think its the end of the Ice Man. He doesnt have the work ethic to be a contender anymore Now, keep in mind when I ask this that I didn't see last night's fight: Was Chuck looking soft or thick last night? Do you think Chuck's problem is really work ethic, or is his game just too one-dimensional? He's got one-punch KO power, as we know, but he doesn't seem to have the all-around game. I think guys are just figuring out how to stay out of KO range until they can ground-game him. I like Chuck, so I hope he's not done, but if guys figure out how to minimize the chance of the big punch it hurts his chances severely IMO.

QUOTE(Kid Gleason @ Sep 21, 2007 -> 10:42 PM) The difference is that Johnny will admit that he is doing it for the money and he will be proud of that fact. I love Johnny also. Always have. Always hated Sid though. I remember when the first reunion tour was announced he said something to the effect of "Enough bands have made their money off of what we did, it's time to get ours, too". He's always good for a bunch of laughs and makes a lot of good points in interviews. The "interview" he had on Jonesy's radio show before the Hall Of Fame situation was especially good.

http://music.yahoo.com/read/news/48437543 God damn, I love Johnny Rotten! And I don't care one bit that some, if not all, of what he said applies to himself, too. He's funny as f*** to me.

So in the world of wrestling, if a victim (Sting) files a restraining order against an aggressor (Karen Angle) to keep her at a distance of at least 50 feet, the victim can then willingly and intentionally breach the 50-foot distance in order to have the aggressor arrested? Even when I try to suspend disbelief, this is too stupid for me to process. ....or I might just be pissed off at Sting for taking Karen Angle off my TV screen....
